icemann: Of course they won't, how could they release four expansion packs otherwise?
Now their getting like the real Warhammer 40k then. Grrr. They`d release a new version of the game every few years and would invalidate half the armies you`d spent so much money on getting the damn minatures for.

No matter how much they try in that E3 Trailer, the Eldar will simply never been cool.

Multiplayer Beta on Steam.
WTF where is my tutorial oh crap I thought the Eldar were tough but errr tons of beasts and we are dead.
The D-Cannon takes waaaaay to long to charge up and the singularity fire mode sucks. Nids move to fast, see.

Start a custom game and fill all of the slots with AI opponents, there's your practice sessions.

Okay, this unlocked at about 11:20PM for me last night.
I'd bought the boxed version from Game.co.uk as it was cheaper than on Steam, and it arrived yesterday.
Yet when I tried to install it when I got home from work, Steam told me that the game wasn't "Available for purchase in your region". Looks like they were using Steam to restrict access.
Like I say, it finally unlocked and I installed it. Surprisingly, setting up Games for Windows Live went incredibly smoothly for me, but I suspect that's because I already have a 360 account.
As for the game itself, what little I've played of it so far is great stuff, although all these claims Relic are making of trying to re-invent the genre ring a little hollow when the gameplay is essentially identical to Massive's Ground Control 2 and World in Conflict. I'm quite surprised that this hasn't been mentioned by any gaming sites.
It's streamlined with a focus on skirmishes rather than base building, and to be honest, I much prefer it. It feels more like a representation of the tabletop game now rather than just another base-building RTS. And it also reminds me a bit of the Myth series, which can't be a bad thing.
In some ways, I wish they'd been even braver and abandoned reinforcements altogether, making you start each battle with the troops you'll have to fight the whole thing with. Maybe next time.
So yeah, all in all, Ground Control 3 is ace :)

Having now been attempting to download my bonus content from GFWL for the last half an hour or so, only to be told that I am 'in the wrong region', I can honestly say that it is the most retarded online system I have yet come across. If you're tying your game into Steam, THQ, then for fuck's sake use Steam.
Edit: ahahaha, it doesn't work if your password is over 12 characters long but doesn't tell you that when creating it? Fail, Microsoft, fail.
Koki on 21/2/2009 at 12:14
I guess the second one is fair game - over 12 characters long? Seriously?
Matthew on 21/2/2009 at 14:33
If you try downloading the content via the website, you get the 'wrong region' message despite having to give a full address (and phone number - what, is Ballmer going to call me to ask for a quick game of CTF? How could this possibly be a required field?).
If you (try to) sign in via the GFWL client it gives you a 'username or password not recognised' error. The official support page just says 'check you typed it right, retard' but a bit of googling gives you a blog post where it recommends that you reset your password to be 12 characters long max (I had 18). Lo and behold, that single change makes the client magically work!

No, I'm asking who the fuck makes his password 18 characters long.
