I see you copypasted without even reading.
Bzzt. Wrong. I read what he said, and responded to his question to point out where he had called DoW a yawnfest. Only had to look a few posts up too lol.
lol to the rest of what you said

I'm sorry icemann, but I don't see that in your post to be honest.
It seems the link Koki posted is now dead, so I can't quite recall - did it state that we wouldn't be battling for strategic points on a map at all, or just that there would be no in-level unit production?

It said about a total revamp of the game, from being resource and base expansion based, to totally tactical based.
Which is fine and all on its own as thats exactly what WH40K is all about, but at the same time its not what DoW is about. If it was under a totally different name other than DoW that`d be another story entirely.
For example, there was that psp title, Squad Command released a few months ago which had no resource collecting in it at all. Just turn based combat very similar to xcom style. Which is totally fine since thats a separate game series of itself, and is one of the games I`d love to get for my psp at some stage.

I see - thanks icemann. I would still postulate that 'take and hold' missions could well be part of the game though, in a similar fashion to DOW.
Also, I have Squad Command and it's pretty good. I recommend it - quite Space Crusade-y to an extent.

Errr, not a total revamp. It's still an RTS. You still have missions and build stuff and collect resources. Just there's less units and more emphasis on them.

Nope, still wrong.
Could a mod possible modify or delete the last couple of page so we could get back to accurate, informative discussion instead of flamebait?

Ok. I`ll wait till its released then have a play of it and decide from there.
One thing I`ve loved about DoW from the very beginning was its more larger scope. As in of entire wars, rather than just skirmishes. If thats gone and its more skirmish-ish it just wont be the same. But I`ll wait and see. Still too early to be making any absolute opinions.

To be fair, it won't be large-scale conflict until we can zoom out and get Titans in there. :p

Go back and read it again, and maybe you'll understand. It's not difficult.
Hint hint: DoW has yawnfest
resource collection, and turns into a yawnfest
after you have exhausted all variety. Since it seems that your comprehension skills need work, I'll just get to the point: DoW is not a yawnfest, and
nobody claimed it to be. Just like how if I were to say that Half-Life 2 has a crap story, that doesn't mean I am calling it a crap game. Learn to read.

And for the
third time, have you played DoW? Follow me up here: Unlike other RTSes where resources are patches of... stuff... always close to your starting position, in DoW they're points scattered all over the map. How fast do you think the skirmishes begin over them? You
can't just sit in your base building up forces, it's simply impossible. You need to capture points all the time, ergo, you will be clashing with the enemy all the time. And the first enemy encounter should be within first one-two minutes, depending on the map size. Saying that resource gathering in DoW in a yawnfest is simply lying, and the stupid kind, not the smart kind.
Unless, of course, all you ever played in DoW was the campaign. But then seriously, what the hell is wrong with you?
Yes, I own the game, and I have basically played through everything it has to offer. While controlling capture points is a nice change from most strategy games, it's not worth it to attack an enemy point without overwhelming force or you'll lose troops to their defenses. Lose troops, and now they have the upper hand. Most of the games I see involve a quick grabbing of control points, an equally rapid fortification of those points, and then a silent arms race until one player decides that he's got better stuff and attacks.

Supreme Commander mod?

Which, on a side note, would be totally fucking awesome.
