This is just in alpha stage currently but it already plays great. :)
I thought it worth mentioning because i think it has a lot to offer Thief/Sneaker fans.
It's basically a survival game in a huge fictional world resembling a part of russia, everything's very detailed and realistic looking. The setting is the standard Zombie Apocalyptic one. :)
The players are survivors of the apocalypse, the goal is simply to survive and simply put that means you need to get food and drink while avoiding getting killed by zombies or other players.
If you die that's FINAL, you lose everything and have to restart with a new character. When you log out your character and location is saved and the next time you play it's restored from a master server regardless of which server you play on.
There are a great number of tools and weapons in the game and also vehicles to help you survive.
Sneaking pays off big time, keeping quiet and staying out of sight is essential to survive as both zombies and some players will kill anyone they see or hear. Shooting is a double-edged sword as it will attract a zombie horde in notime.
Yesterday i was sneaking around a town in the dark when another player tried to rob me, there were lots of zombies around and i simply walked off because i realized that if he actually fired a shot he would sign his own death sentence. :) And he didn't fire so i suppose his survival strategy was to bluff to get free stuff from newbies ;)
Anyway, this is a really great game. You need Arma 2: Combined forces to play it but it's worth buying just for this mod and it's not that expensive. :)

It is brilliant, but good luck finding a slot on a server with a reasonable ping, let alone with friends.

My biggest problem with it right now is that it's almost always zombie-flavored deathmatch. People shoot first and ask questions later, and even if you find a buddy to work with, one guy who wants your stuff can easily take you both out.
The clear solution is a TTLG game night.

It's tricky, because while I hate being killed by other players, a lot of the tension comes from the fact that you don't know who you can trust. It's probably the best, most accurate zombie fiction based game I've played in that respect. To lose that tension would severely damage the atmosphere.

I've been trying to play for a while, but every time I try to connect to a server I get a "Connecting failed" error. I suspect it may be a router thing (we've got TV-via-internet, which requires a specially set up router, and it sometimes plays silly buggers with PS3 MP as well), but I have little to no idea how to set up the router so it'll work. I think I've correctly set up port forwarding, but no dice so far...

Trust issues are what made The Ship such an interesting game. They also made The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly one of the best films ever, and it's about time we had a multi player survival game with that theme too.
As I said in the other thread, when I have a PC by this weekend, I'm all in. :D

The connection issues are really bad, i agree. the number of players has doubled over the weekend. I heard like 40000 players are trying to get on the servers at once and they can't handle the load.
Once you get in it's a fantastic experience though. ;)

If a real TTLG team is set up, I'm in.

It's a great idea, but material needs are such a concern that you're more likely to die of hunger if you don't kill the other guy and steal his stuff than you are to be killed by zombies because you don't have a guy watching your back. Throw in how people are willing to be serious assholes online if it's in their own interest and it becomes damn near impossible to group up with someone without getting shot on sight.
Not saying it isn't fun- far from it. But I think it would work best with people you can (sort of) rely on.

I think PK's are supposed to get changed appearances and show with a bandit skin instead, the trust issue is part of the game though and if you look at many of the great zombie movies, fellow humans are usually a greater threat than the zombies themselves. :)
I'm sure things will balance out eventually, it's only an alpha version after all.
