I think the floatiness is hard wired. Arma is a game where 50 meters is considered fairly close range, and I guess it's attempting to simulate some of the inertia you would get with a real body while trying to aim (but I've never even fired a rifle before so I might be talking out of my arse here.)

I haven't played for a few days but today i made my way to Berezino, it's hard to get around in the dark since it's so spread out and not very symmetrical. Many z's gave their (un)life tonight because it was raining and i couldn't hear them until i bumped into them. ;)
Found me an M16 a while ago, the STANAG clips aren't that hard to come by and i've gathered enough to last me a long time now.
I also had a Glock 17 with a flashlight, it's quiet and you can use both M9 and Glock ammo for it but pistol ammo runs out quickly and the ammo still isn't common so i got an M1911 again after tonight's zombie massacre. :)
My problem now is finding wood, running zombies through the rain brought my temp. down to 20 or so and with bandits scavenging the city core i logged out in a military tent in the outskirts. I hope it'll get a bit warmer til next time i play. :)

ok this is amazing game, brutal and addictive. So I managed to make it through a small dockside town, too many zombies so I rummaged through a couple of buildings with no joy, and decided to hightail it outta there through the forest. Bit of walking and came across a huge town with a big church in the middle, managed to get ontop of this 3 storey building and then spent 10 minutes planning my route to this shop I could see down on the street.
Crawled my way through a few backyards, and into the shop. Yay loot! I could hear a zombie close by though so I carefully crawled through a doorway and the thing that I thought was a dead body turned out to be a zombo. Fuck, wasted a whole clip in panic, then of course all the other undead in the vicinity came racing in, so I ran for my life taking down 2 more zombies as I escaped into the hills. All this for a can of baked beans.
Then of course I came across 4 other fellow survivors, we banded together to take out more zombies, then one guy shot all of us, and probly looted out bodies no doubt. Fucker.

The server reset positions again last night. Dumped me smack-dab in the middle of the small area between Cherno and Elektro, so I quickly hoofed it for the treeline, avoiding newbie flare-chuckers as I went.
I took the opportunity to make my way over to Berezino again and stocked up on more medical supplies. That was actually pretty smooth running, and it turns out most people STILL don't know about the hospital there.
As it was night, I scouted the whole area. While there are lots of military scenery props, there's not a single military loot spawn, so I made my way to another widely ignored place, the NE Airfield. There's one building there with military loot, and I had a bit of a dilemma when I found a Remington. It's probably the best shotgun now they've nerfed the Winchester, but in the end I couldn't bring myself to trade in my M4A3 CCO for it.
The M1911 is quickly becoming my favourite weapon now I don't use the Winchester any more. Sure, it's moderately loud, but ammo's common and it takes down anything in one shot. Thanks mostly to that, I'm now up to 480 zombies killed.
I came across two apparently AFK survivors in a shed at the NE Airfield. I didn't kill them, but it did serve to allow me to experiment with a few nefarious gameplay elements. I nicked a bunch of M1911 ammo from one of their backpacks, and attempted to "Lure" zombies to them by chucking smoke grenades into their shed. When you chuck a smoke grenade, any zombies in the vicinity run for it. Interestingly, the zombies didn't attack them, which I'm guessing was down to them standing stock still. At least I know now though.
So after plundering the loot spawns there a few times, I started making my way west towards Devil's Castle again, at which point Kuuso joined. I'll let him elaborate further, but it would appear he encountered an interesting and potentially game-breaking bug, where he could see markers detailing other players' distances and the direction they were in. Another guy made me aware that he was experiencing the same thing. What's more, Kuuso reported that he was invisible in third person mode, although zombies could still see him. BAAAD mojo.
But to be honest, I think that server was bugged, as gradually the population dropped down to 4 people including myself.
I saw one guy running through the forest with his flashlight out whilst making my way to the castle, but he didn't respond when queried, so I just continued on my path.
I got to the castle with no further incidents and stocked up on food and drink, at which point I won the game. I FOUND THE MOUNTAIN DEW!
Kidding aside, I'm now back in a relatively north-central safehouse ready to venture out and help folks wherever they may be.
Just try and get away from the coast before calling on me :E

Haha, i have to try that if i get an opportunity. I wonder if you can steal their weapons too. :)
It would be kinda fun to disarm someone and wait for them to return just to see the reaction. ;)
What i'd really like to do once i've toured the airfields (Still haven't got there) is to find a vehicle and fix it up, an ATV would be fun, and see if you can run z's over with it. You'd probably get seriously hurt trying but its' worth the risk finding out ;)
Edit: Well that jinxed me, someone looted my pack as i logged on today, all my STANAG clips are gone! :(

Nah, you can only nick what's in their backpacks, not on their person, so disarming isn't possible.
Edit: Unlucky with the robbing mate :(
At least he didn't kill you.

YEah, i blocked his way out of a room when i logged on, he picked me clean and logged off, coward. :P It's no big deal though. Saw the Berezino military camp in daylight today and realized there are four tents full of goodies. ;)
Nothing lasts forever and everything's replaceable. :) The only thing i've shot with the M16 is a cow, i mostly use the sidearm so the clips wasn't really a big loss.
I think the things in Day Z that has the most value are matches, compass, map and hunting knife really since all weapons can kill and other stuff is relatively easy to come by. :)

I know I'm nobody on this forum but, man, I would love to play with any of ya'll! Mod is a blast (once I found an actual weapon, at least) but I've found it even more enjoyable with a little cooperation. PM me if you wouldn't mind letting a noob tag along and/or if you don't think I'm a psycho bandit with a deep-seated need for beans :joke:.

If you guys are playing this on Steam, post your handles so we can add eachother (if we haven't already via TTLG Kru).

Jesus fuck, that was awesome.
So Kuuso got an infection during the night; a nasty rainstorm came in and lowered our temperatures, taking Kuuso under 50. AT that point, he started coughing and his blood total dropped by 2000.
We met up at Green Mountain, and from there snuck across the landscape having decided to head for the hospital at Berezino in the hopes of getting Kuuso some antibiotics, the only cure for infection.
Along the way, out temperature kept dropping, so we had to scavenge for firewood which we used to warm ourselves. We decided to stop off at Stary Sobor on the way, and bingo, hit the jackpot. Turns out, there's a military tent city at the north east edge of the town that has some incredible loot spawns. We hung around for a long time, at least enough time for the loot to respawn 3 times.
I was rifling through a cache in one of the tents when I heard a rapid series of suppressed shots; Kuuso had been taken down by a bandit!
With my heart in my throat, I peered round the edge of the tent and let off some shots from my new man-stopping AKM; unfortunately, this drew masses of zombies to my location, and I spent the next five minutes racking up quite the kill count, all without moving from my tent for fear that the bandit was covering my exit. With my kill counter finally ticking significantly over 500, the river of undead ceased allowing me to regain my composure.
That's when I saw it; a bright white "1" under Bandits Killed. My relatively blind fire had hit home, and somewhat unknowingly, I had avenged Kuuso.
Unfortunately, as I'd been pinned down for so long, by the time I got out of the tent, both Kuuso and the bandit's corpses had disappeared. I was denied a suppressed MP5 and probably some night vision goggles :(
I've tried to avoid killing for so long.
But no-one kills my buddy
Fuck, how am I going to get to sleep with this much adrenaline pumping through my system?
