Does the mod have any explosives? I'm wondering if you could set a charge, then make a fire next to it to attract the undead. Someone's gotta try it.
It has a lot of different weapons and i've found various kinds of grenades, smoke and explosive ones. Flares do attract undead...and players and are often used for that purpose but i don't know if there are mines. There probably is, i find new stuff all the time.
Concerning using a blood pack, i raided a hospital and got some but i can't use it on myself so i think it's for healing other players. Canned food doesn't seem to heal me so i'm going animal hunting. Got hunting a knife and matches and i heard that cooked meat heals you. :)

A friend of mine picked it up a few days ago. He fired it up at about 9 o'clock at night, and since the game's day/night cycle is a real 24-hour one, he started out in pitch darkness on a hill in the middle of nowhere. He found and lit a flare, and the entire hillside screamed at him. He told me he's never been scared more by a video game than that moment.

Well, I just bought Arma2: CO for this, since it sounds like the perfect online game. I'm up for anything as soon as I get it installed. That real 24-hour cycle sounds a bit problematic - what if you live somewhere that happens to have say 18.00-21.00 always full-on night in the game world?

15 bucks for Operation Arrowhead? Eeehhhhhh... I think I'll wait a bit with this one. Until the server-capacity crisis is over, and until I've finished playing L4D1&2. And maybe until it goes on sale. I'm cheap ok.
Maybe I'll give Arma2 another go in the meanwhile.

I'm a broke a hell student and still managed to buy it, you shouldn't have a problem either :p

The Arma 2 missions (original game and expansions) are actually pretty good with the latest patches. Much better than the first Arma, as far as I'm concerned.

The cycle is synced to the server's local time and it's accurate in detail, even moon cycles are accurate. I've been running around in darkness most of the time (And i don't mind that much) but a solution would be to play on a server in a different part of the world, though you'd probably get worse latency (ping) times.

Easy to see this is Alpha, since I've encountered various errors before even getting into the game. Lets see if I ever get this even started up.
edit: holy shit this game is scary at night time.

Man, if I had the thirty bucks to spare I'd have been all over this. It was actually on sale on Steam a while back; if I'd known about this mod then I'd have bought it. Now it's too late. :(
Apparently you can just buy Operation Arrowhead and use it with the free version of ARMA II available from the developers site. Installation instructions + tips (
