I've downloaded Arma II and OA (already had the main game).
Gonna download the mod. Anybody up for a night round or want to shack up tomorrow?

Totally sold on this game nao. Sure it's alpha and there's various problems (biggest being the common server issues), but sneaking into a town at pitch black night to scavenge to only end up being chased by a zombie horde, because someone happened to throw a flare exactly at your location. 10+ zeds chasing, you with severe bleeding going and loss of conciousness incoming you think it couldn't get any worse. Then it starts to rain like hell...

Holy shit....I need to play boot camp in vanilla game. So MANY commands....gah.
But yeah, pitch black is scary but awesome. Also, this game smacks my machine in higher-than-normal settings, fs...
So, TTLG posse, lads?

Heard shots from a rooftop today and climbed up, i found a bandit player sniping behind a chimney and executed him with a shot in the neck. :)
It was extremely satisfying after having been killed multiple times earlier by that bunch. He had a complete set of tools and an assault rifle with 8 clips, felt like i got back everything i'd previously lost so now i'm heading inland to explore. :)
Zombies are so much easier to handle with a proper gun and for once i know exactly where i am on the map. :)

Mechanically speaking, can you hold people up and things?
There's talk of people bluffing with guns and such, and the dynamic of gunfire sound being problematic.
How does that all work?

There's a video on YouTube of a guy getting held up by two others who tell him to get down on the floor. They then proceed to rifle through his pack while he's on the ground; this is something you can do, open another person's inventory and take what you want.
He gets up halfway through and tries to fight back, but they shoot him dead.
So yes, you can "Hold other people up".
It's a magical, wondrous thing this Day Z.

One thing I'm really disliking is how ammo and supplies only seem to spawn in towns, but there are almost always zombies all over the place. I don't find nearly enough ammo to keep myself afloat, which is why I'm now in a town in the middle of nowhere with an empty Mak and equally-empty CZ 500. It wouldn't be so bad if the zombies weren't so downright spastic that hitting them at all is a challenge on its own.
Also haven't been able to find a way to refill water bottles. I've found hand-pump wells in some of the towns, but they don't give any prompt so seem to be decoration only. And does it seem weird to anyone else how the only way to replenish blood is to find a transfusion pack?

This of course begs the question: can you also teabag people at gunpoint?
I mean I wanna play the game but now I'm kinda worried about getting gang-teabagged by a bunch of bandits. :o
