Right, I'm there and have climbed the stairs to the top of the tower. There's some good loot there judging by what I saw on my way up; compasses, maps, that sort of stuff.
Signing off again for the time being.

I've tried to get to the big northwestern airfield for a while, it's not easy and i can't help but visit all the other interesting places along the way. :)
Found a GPS that i'm hoping will take me there, it makes finding my way really easy but i still have to enter zombie infested villages to get supplies and something happens every time. :) I'm never at full health and i have everything but matches so i'm hoping to find some along the way.

I've been logging in and out at Devil's Castle for a lot of the day now, and have a spare watch, matches, binoculars and knife ready and waiting for the next one of you guys I meet there.
It's a pretty good base of operations; there's a lot of loot, but none of it is the kind of stuff that would attract bandits. It's all cans & soda, bandages and civilian weapons & ammo.
The indoor areas are great to run to if you get the attention of the zombies, and are easily defensible.
It does attract other survivors mind you, and at one point when I logged in, I appeared in a room with three others, but thankfully we got our "Friendly"s off quickly and no-one was hurt. I even helped them when they got the attention of the local zed population.
BTW Ahris, did you find that GPS on a zombie or in a particular location? If it was a zombie, I'm guessing it was a military one, right? That, a rangefinder and NVGs are about the only things I really want now. Hell, I'm not even sure I need a rangefinder as I don't use sniper rifles.

I think the GPS is military gear and can be found in places like airbases, military tents or fire stations, i got mine from a bandit i killed though ;) Been very careful not to die since i got it, not until i get to that damn airfield. ;)
I have a DMR sniper rifle and lots of ammo but to be honest, i'd much prefer an assault rifle with a scope. I fired a shot in Zelenogorsk once and had 100 zombies or so come running into the grocery store i was in, it's LOUD. :) I killed 50 or so and ran out of ammo then i started up the benny hill tune and ran like hell. :) So i only keep it around for defence, been sniped at so many times that i want to be able to get even if it happens.
I'm hoping to find a better rifle at the airfield, been gathering military ammo for a while and my goal with this whole trip is to find a rifle for it :) And maybe some NVG's, should be plenty of stuff like that at the airfield.
I'd like to find a tent again, they are rare but can be used to store stuff. Then you could stash the good stuff you find for later use. :)

Has anyone found a way to escape pursuing zombies? I managed to lose one in a forest somehow when I was out of ammo, but when a group of 10+ is following it's not feasible and they never give up.

A certain way is to get into the sea and swim away enough to get a few hundred yards between them and you, the downside is you're likely to lose your backpack.
Climbing onto roofs is another way, some might follow but they are easy to kill as they come up the ladder and the rest you can shoot from the roof. If you're out of ammo you're going to have to ask someone for help or hope that they attack someone else. ;) Zombies are very persistent.

Yeah, it seems that buildings are the best way to kill zombies, when they're stuck shambling they're infinitely easier to kill than their usual spastic 20mph sprinting.
The main challenge is getting up the ladder or through the door without flailing uselessly thanks to the engine.

Oi, lads. Don't forget to make your way to Devil's Castle those that want to hang about with me and Malf. Strenght in numbers and all that, and despite the timezone differences we've managed to squeeze quite a few hours of gameplay. Kuuso hasn't replied here (that I've noticed), but he's also in our group, though I dunno with the server reset if he's made his way over to our position. In any case, don't forget the map link I posted (courtesy of Malf), very useful :)

I got a swanky printed map of Chernarus with the Arma X box set. :p They will have to actually come here to pry that out of my cold, dead hands.

Ok, who else is regularly playing?
I played a bit with Setanta (doesn't post anymore, I think), we're gonna try to hook up at Berezino. Malf?, Kuuso? :)
