DX was a game that encompassed all the dark sides of the government. (The Conspiracies, The Gray death, The Cloak and Dagger parts) all evoke a sense of night, or darkness, Talking about the Gray death during the day just wouldn't seem right. Same with the conspiracies... Black was definetly a strong Motif in the game, I hope DX2 has that same Feeling to it.

Ah. Is Deus Ex is supposed to be played with the lights off? Like Thief, and unlike No One Lives For Ever, Half-Life and Soldier of Fortune etc.?

Daylight missions would work extremely well in Deus Ex II in both indoor and outdoor natural environments on some levels. Especially, I believe, if the level were to be accompanied by long looooong distances (think Goldeneye in the winter scene) and a good sniping rifle like the 270 Remington or the 22-250 Remington. To make it even more interesting, one could shoot into a flock of pigeons or other flock birds to make a guard move away from his position for a better shot. That sort of thing. Well thought out and designed, daylight missions could be very very effective. Not too many though. Just enough to make it interesting. Like one or two. <IMG SRC="thumb.gif" border="0">
