(We should have a fresh thread to discuss a new game, IMO.)
Oh FFS, console exclusive SP campaign DLC. I'll begrudgingly pick this up for 360 then.
DICE and Bioware seem to be the only EA subsidiaries who aren't shafting PC when it comes to DLC releases. Criterion/Black Box/etc tend to treat the PC versions of their racing games as red headed stepchildren. Visceral (EA Redwood Shores) have also had a similar history of doing so, with DS1 and The Godfather series.

EA has today announced Dead Space 2: Severed, a downloadable content pack that adds a further two chapters to the singleplayer story.
Dead Space 2: Severed is coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year. The DLC will not be coming to PC.
The DLC features Dead Space: Extraction characters Gabe Weller and Lexine Murdock. Their story coincides with main protagonist Isaac Clarke's. Players will control Weller, a Sprawl security guard, as he tries to fend of the Necromorph threat.
No dates or pricing has been announced for Dead Space 2: Severed. Dead Space 2 launches this Friday.

Wow, I am shocked. Eva finally sold out. Damn. You mean to tell me that you chose the 360 version SIMPLY BECAUSE OF A SINGLE DLC? Wow. And $5 says it eventually makes its way to PC anyway. Even if not, I'd rather support the PC ver. as there was a really good chance it wasn't even going to exist at all at first.
My immediate future consists of the PC version being stalked in retail tomorrow. Wal-Mart and Target beware!

Yeah I could care less about the DLC.
EvaUnit02 on 26/1/2011 at 05:08
"SIMPLY BECAUSE OF A SINGLE DLC" is trivialising the matter. It's proper SP story-based content. It's not horse armour; it's not content for a MP component that I couldn't really give two shits about; it's not some challenge room, survival mode skirmish crap.
EDIT:-
Then there's DS: Ignition connectivity. Finishing that game unlocks exclusive audio logs, rooms with loot and nodes, etc in DS2. How much effort would've it taken for them to have ported a low key adventure game like that to PC? If they sold it on Steam for like $5 USD, sales probably would've been good.
I bet you that patch support will be non-existent for the PC version this time as well.
FUCK, I'm going to miss the precision aiming.

The problem I have with it is that it's sort of a continuation of the plot thread from Extraction, which I don't have. So yeah, I could care less.

All that for a mediocre game huh? I'm sure it'll add new and interesting features besides cutting the limbs off of enemies repeatedly.

So you've actually played Dead Space 2? Please grace us with a constructive review then.

Why would I buy the sequel when I didn't like the first game? I watched the Game Trailers review which was basically "It's a lot like the first game and shares many of it's problems, predictable monster closets, repetitive, bad multiplayer...9.0. Game of the Year".

So why are you in this thread?

So you don't like Dead Space enough to buy the sequel, but you still feel you have something valuable to contribute in a thread about it.
Onto relevant conversation - as I said in the other thread, a lot of fun so far. I agree with the responses that Dead Space really never seemed to be about the scares but rather the tension. It's a bit sad though, because The Marker and its ability could lend itself to a much scarier game. Extraction actually pulled it off pretty well in a couple of scenes, using hallucinations to screw with your head. Dead Space 1 never really made proper use of it and so far DS2 hasn't done much either.
