I've read that you have to start a new game to avoid any glitches. It's people loading their previous saved games that are having the problem with missing items.
Whether that's correct or not, I don't know for certain. I do know that some people have been applying the patch to the Steam version of the game, which the patch was not meant for. It's strictly for the retail version at the moment. So that could be another reason for people having problems?
It's more or less the same situation for the controls: you have to reset them to the defaults before you can properly remap them.

Pick this up on Steam for $23.99, today only (I did).

Finally got to the end and I'm woefully unprepared for this final fight. Found a trick to make it through three waves of the bastard bastard things, but eventually I need to spend more time reloading than I can shooting the objective and I get fucked (doesn't help that the little bastards don't drop nearly enough health for me). Way fucking harder than I was expecting. Also: Plasma Cutter, Line Gun, Javelin Launcher probably not the best loadout.

I used the Pulse Rifle and just went full auto on the objective as soon as possible, and got it done without having to deal with the little bastards at all.

Actually that's not a bad combo. Plasma Cutter is godly enough as it is. The Line Gun can tear through multiple enemies with ease and its secondary fire will blow enemies you've used statis on into bits. The Javelin is great too because of the alternate fire. Fantastic for clearing out crowds of smaller necros or, fully upgraded, killing larger ones in a single electric charge.
Of course the issue is always ammo.

Yeah. I'm down to 2 line gun rounds, 14 javelins, and 54 plasma. But I seriously neglected upgrading the plasma cutter, so it's only got a 12 round clip and maybe two damage upgrades, iirc.

Hope you upgraded your suit/kinesis then. Just pick up every pointy object and sharp limb you can find and throw them.

No sharp bits in the final fight. I said fuckit and turned the difficulty down just for the Nicole confrontation/Marker fight. I'm not ashamed. I made it that far on Zealot on my first playthrough without touching the bonus equipment I got for having a Dead Space 1 save.

It's really easy (on Zealot too) when you use proper weapon, 30 seconds and the fight is over.
Having proper weapon in that fight is critical on Zealot.

If you want to not worry about ammo, buy the ripper and upgrade it. On the medium difficulty it is devastating, taking out 2-3 enhanced slashers with a single tethered blade. It made moments like the big elevator in ch. 11 more of a resource collecting trip than a fight. Saving ammo and resources makes it possible to buy more nodes for your credits, getting the gear upgraded faster.
And it has sweet sound effects, too.
