I found the first encounter with them to be a bit dark. It's later during some of the warehouse bits where you catch a glimpse of them peeking OVER the crates rather than around them. Of course they're smart so they don't move when you move the light over them and most of the time you don't realize its just staring back at you waiting for you to get closer.

Finished the game and loved it. I have my complaints - the story could have been developed better and too many damn plot points are left dangling. Also, the scare/creepy factor was down as a whole (though some sections pulled it off fantastically).
Regardless, I found it a stronger game than Dead Space 1. The combat was satisfying and it was intense as hell at times. A few quirks here and there to keep it from true greatness but easily one of the stronger action titles I've played recently.

(
http://playthroughline.com/scripts/dead-space-2/) Jonas' short-script is brilliant.
I'm almost finished with the game. It's choke-full of bad clichés, shallow psychology, (predictable) plot inconsistencies and awful dialogue, but it's been consistently pretty, atmospheric and gratifying HOLY SHIT DID I JUST PIN THIS DUDE TO THE WALL AND ELECTRIFY HIM AND SET HIS FACE ON FIRE - THIS DOESN'T LOOK HEALT- OH MY GOD THE BULGING CHEST CAVITY OF THIS DEAD CHILD APPEARS TO BE A REAL DELICACY TOO PRECIOUS TO LEAVE UNSTOMPED

I'm about 5 hours in and totally stalled. There's just something about the original that made me want to keep playing. Whatever it was, it's missing from this one.

I'm surprised no one is talking about (
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/107679-Dead-Space-2-DLC-Packs-Unlocked-on-PC) this story yet. EA said the PC version of DS2 wouldn't get any DLC, yet much of it is already there on the disc or in the Steam download.
There's three possibilities here.
* The port job done was so lazy, that they couldn't even be bothered to remove the extra content despite it being unused in the game.
* EA planned to eventually "change their minds" later and charge PC owners.
* A sympathetic dev at Visceral who worked on the PC version snuck in this content, hoping someone would find and unlock it.

This is the suits, only, right? No extra levels?
redrain85 on 11/2/2011 at 21:35
All the suits and extra weapons. Here's a (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rJ-CdmzC-o) shitty video showing off the DLC in action on the PC. No extra levels.
It seems likely that EA is going to have to recant their previous position on releasing the DLC after this fiasco. At least, Andy Chalk over at The Escapist (
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.263901-Dead-Space-2-DLC-Packs-Unlocked-on-PC#10006477) seems to think so. (Isn't he a member here on TTLG?) So the PC version might get the additional "Severed" levels later, too.
If this was a case of EA withholding the content and having absolutely no intention of letting PC owners access it, despite knowing it was already there, then that is douchebaggery of the highest order.

Doesn't actually work for me. If I load the new game+, when I get to the point where you'd go through the first door, there is nothing at all there.
Steam version only?

Works for me (Non-Steam), though if I die it crashes.
It's just a truckload of guns with small bonuses and a bunch of suits. You also start with a load of cash and nodes so you can buy and upgrade your flash new gear.

It had just taken exception to me moving my other saves. Seems to work OK now.
