Guns and suits? Color me uninterested.

Well, it is currently the only way to get the 'hand cannon' on the pc. Same for the suits.

This game is awesome. I'd go into detail but it's 6am.

Finished it a couple of days ago. Very very nice game, loved a lot of the things they did like the way you move in anti-gravity and the flying scenes like the one in the train tunnel and the one outside of the station. Although I like the fact that hey made Isaac talk this time, it just feels off when I think about how silent he was in number 1. The new weapons were a nice addition and I think they toned down the damage on the pulse rifle main attack (makes up with the secondary though).
The thing I don't like all that much is the fact that the last quarter of the game (or maybe the last third) seemed to be less horror and more action... which is not something I wanted or expected. Another thing is that things seem to be moving too fast. Not saying it's a short game and it certainly doesn't feel short, but there is so much happening and every fighting or talking scene is being pushed towards "epicness" that, although it manages to create a good tense atmosphere, it also made me feel most of the time that I had to rush through it all.
So basically I wouldn't say it's better than the first, but that it's different and a good game on it's own merits. It also made me want to replay Dead Space 1 and... enjoy it more for what it is.

What (if anything) is the general verdict on Extraction here?
gunsmoke on 14/2/2011 at 14:29
My opinion? It is incredible. It is done so well, you rarely notice it is on-rails.

The game became more tactical if compared with original thanks to larger variety of necros and weapons, but at the same time less scary, somewhat boring, and absolutely linear (at least so far, I'm in the 6th chapter). Chapters in the original game were designed more open-ended, there often was a hub and several possible ways, you could choose where you go first etc. And graphics, I don't know about PC version, but on PS3 it looks no better than original on PC as I remember it, maybe even worse.
At least it's really hard on Zealot.

Agreeing with gun and VA here. Extraction is easily the best on-rails shooter I've ever played, and is pretty much a must own if you have a Wii (or a PS3 since it released with DS2).

I played them back to back on PC. DS2 is definitely much nicer looking than DS1. if it supported AA it would be stellar.
