I didn't find that part of the fight very difficult, and I can't even see the lasers in aiming mode during that part (or any part where a tentacle grabs me, for that matter). He does give you a lot of time to take out the two remaining yellow thingies, you just have to act fast while he's not "playing" with you.

i found the last fight to be easier than with the leviathan. just run left-right and shoot when he screams. did it in 3 takes. mouse aiming helps tremendously I assume with the "grabbing part".

Finished this last night. After a sweeping somewhat epic game the last chapter on the colony was surprsingly generic. Boss Battle was easy and I did it first time around (thank you Contact Beam).
I'm curious as to where they take this in the 2nd game - since are we to believe that Isaac is now infected if he's seeing dead Nicole? I read that theres a movie planned to bridge the gap between the first and second game which I approve of...they shouldnt "remake" the game as a movie since this is so mindbendingly fucked up and just plain sick to watch; no studio would fund it.
Thoroughly enjoyed it though and now I'm on the lookout for a new game to get my teeth into; I hear Mirrors Edge is fun. Definately want to avoid shooters/zombie/gory games for a while though. Any recommendations? Good adventure games out there these days?

I can highly recommend Mirror's Edge, especially if you want to avoid gore and zombies. There's a small amount of shooty in it, but it's far from an FPS. It's about as far a change of pace from DS as you could get.

Excellent. Thats decided then!
I just glanced at my copies of Grim Fandango and Monkey Island too...
I'm right about Dead Space being one of the best games I've experienced in a long long time. It makes me want to go watch Event Horizon again actually...

Watch Sunshine while you are at it, take Event Horizon, make it good by removing the second half, add some Solaris, voila

I have a chance to get the PS3 version of this off a friend for cheap. Should I buy it or should I get the PC version so I can use a keyboard and mouse? Also, does the game look better in wide-aspect? My computer is hooked to a 21" Viewsonic Professional Graphics CRT but the PS3 is using a 24" 16:9 LCD?

Yes, the game does benefit from the increased FOV brought by widescreen. Although the DS does look a lot better with forced AA that's only possible on the PC version.

Also yes, mouse aiming is far better with this game than a gamepad.
Decide where your priorities lie, a better visual experience or better controls.
It's worth noting that DS for PC is ridiculously well optimised and thus can be maxed out on very modest hardware, with framerate counts in the stratosphere.

Actually it's not. I played both games for about an hour the very same evening, and whatever they did to the mouse controls makes them only marginally better, if at all. It's like they were trying to simulate using a joystick with the mouse; maybe the game would've been too easy with faster controls.
