Haha Gamespot, using NPD figures for PC sales as if they aren't so functionally inaccurate (as in
no digital or online sales, US/ Canada only, not even most bricks and mortar stores in NA eg no fucking
Walmart) as to be totally worthless, very funny, I am greatly amused and your analysis has made me totally rethink my formerly low opinion of your article quality.
Still, good news as it was an entertaining game and a good PC port, vsync issues notwithstanding.

Edit: Aww, Eva, you had to go and ninja edit your post. Mine looks all schizophrenic now.
That's why you should always quote the entirety of the post above yours when replying to it.

if all crap story-copy/paste gameplay franchise games were that good I would buy them. on my list ;)
I wouldn't say the story was crap, but then again you would probably call primordial soup a ripoff.

Even with v-sync off, I still have slight lag issues with the mouse and they keyboard. In fact, turning v-sync didn't even help; I had to turn the resolution all the way down to fix it. Here's hoping they've done something about that in the sequel, because I'll definitely be picking it up at some point.
Here's also hoping they leave out anything resembling that stupid asteroid shooter...still haven't made it out of Chapter 4 because of that.

I really don't think vsync is the issue, Enchanty.
Enchantermon on 7/12/2009 at 21:15
Well, turning it off was what seemed to fix the lag for everyone else according to Google, and it's also one of the first things tech support at EA told me to do.

So how are they going to make the gore of Dead Space 2 more intense than the first one? will that even be possible?
They'll keep up with the trends, which means you will get blood splatter on your character.

It's somewhat laggy by design so turning off vsync won't remove it completely- which I actually like; you're basically some random vending machine repairman in a high tech boilersuit after all, not Duke Nukem or the Marine from Doom. I do hope the over reliance on monster closets will be rethought.
Enchantermon on 7/12/2009 at 22:01
Even random vending machine repairmen would be quick on their feet with their adrenaline pumping.
I see what you're saying, though. The lag does result in me missing more shots than I land, which would be about right for an inexperienced fighter.
Also, meleé needs a little work. It's too useless as far as I've been able to tell.

I tried Dead Space recently and was terribly disappointed. The camera was probably the worst thing and to call this game horror is a joke. Too predictable and the gameplay reminded me of a really bad version of Doom 3. After the first chapter I just got bored and stopped.

I agree that the first chapter sucks but keep playing.
