Makes sense, EA said the PC version only sold like 30,000 copies. Why bother.

If this is true...well, thanks for nothing, EA.

Isn't that like a million dollars or something?
Anyway, we'll see. I have a sneaking suspicion that we'll get a delayed port as well. My only concern...it is going to be just that...a port.
Oh yeah. I recently bought Dead Space 1. When does it get good? I have only played the first 30 minutes to get familiar with it and sort my settings out, but it was kinda meh. Don't get me wrong, I will finish it soon, but it started very slow.
Also, I had ZERO problems with the mouse/keyboard controls. They are great.

But when did they say this? I'd bet that with the combination of Steam sales and word of mouth that the sales over time have increased pretty significantly. It's too bad that so many publishers seem to be aiming for the 'opening weekend' sales figures with their AAA franchises instead of looking at long term sales (though, to continue the analogy, I have a feeling that increasingly the PC is going to become the equivalent of DVD sales, while console sales are opening weekend and theatrical take).

Considering the quality of the Dead Space 1 port (from an optimization and stability standpoint, at the very least), that seems like an odd thing to be concerned about.

After the first level actually.
I found the game got better as it went on. The first chapter, while pretty, was predictable and dull. By the time the 10th chapter came around I was actually genuinely creeped out, and was carefully managing my weapons and upgrades.

I am basing off of the limited info out, history, and a gut feeling. First of all, they are saying there won't be a PC version at all. Ok, the fans revolt and they decide to release one after all. This is fucking EA. It will be released months after the console versions and be a quick and dirty damage control solution (preventing bad press and people marring their name even more).
Think about it. The first one had an excellent PC version that shipped the same time as the consoles got theirs. It will have to be a port. Have to. It will have been developed from the ground up for the consoles. PC will be hacked together to save $ (it won't make 1/4 what the consoles will) and probably receive little or no patch support.
Just a guess. Don't get me wrong, the first is optimized well and looks good. I like it. I am rooting for a quality PC version of the sequel.

What? Even things as basic as mouse sensitivity were completely fucked. I had to force Vsync on using my driver software just to play with a decent sensitivity.

Two weeks later, IIRC, but I'll grant not a months-later separate release.

That all describes Dead Space perfectly. A port for a console game, with no patch support.

Not for me. It was fine. I was SHOCKED at the amount of shit people went through over this game's mouse controls. I usually play @ 3.0-3.5 on Half Life 2 for reference. I have Dead Space on about 3/4 of max on this without Vsync in-game or forced, and it is fine.

Non point, though.

So, you agree with my opinion on the PC sequel's fate?

I'm pretty sure they're not starting over from scratch with the engine for the console versions, so porting to PC should be pretty smooth and non-hacky.
