Face it, RE's never really been about tactics. Tactics is Hidden and Dangerous 2. RE isn't anywhere close to that; but, given the kind of game that it is, it doesn't need to be.
RE4 on higher difficulty settings is pretty much tactical, that;s why I love it. Upgrade system, trade system, combat mechanics, and areas/combat design force you to think and plan, otherwise it's just not possibly to win, no way.

Out of interest, does anything in the game explain why pretty much every spacehammer, spacespanner and spacewrench is as good as if not better at blowing stuff the fuck up than a military rifle?
Yeah they kinda do - most of the tools you have are mining implements designed to crack hard rock and work it. The Military rifle was designed pretty much for putting down squishy people. Because the necromorphs can take considerable soft tissue damage without slowing down you need cutting tools to dismember them more rather than puncturing tools like the rifle.

Bit pedantic, but I would also LOVE to see the combat situation the rifles alt-fire was designed for.
Jazz/Funk fusion military band parades. :)

Heh, I bought the original and played it for about 2 hours or so. Haven't played it since.
Does anyone want it? I can gift via Steam.
catbarf on 23/6/2010 at 02:47
I'd take it, but are you sure you can still gift it? I thought it's permanently tied to your account.
Scots Taffer on 23/6/2010 at 02:54
Okay, maybe I totally lied - I thought every game had the gifting functionality, but I guess it doesn't make a whole lot of business sense. I'll check it out and be in touch.
I'd give away it and Fallout 3 if I could because I simply will never get around to playing them.

It has to be bought as a gift, or an extra copy in order to be gifted (and the extra copy thing may only work for games with full Steamworks integration at that).
Nameless Voice on 23/6/2010 at 03:10
You have to buy a game specifically as a gift in order to gift it, because... yeah, otherwise everyone would just gift-swap games constantly and no one would buy them.
Edit: Curse your speed, Fafhrd!

Bah! Apologies.

I got done by that one too scots. I am now the proud owner of a copy of modern warfare 2 that I can never disassociate myself from, having bought in on the premise that 'I can play it over the weekend and just sell it if it's bollocks'. Well guess what, it is and no I can't. It's like being branded or something.

I can't believe some people haven't figured out that Steam games are not resalable yet. It's only been a fact of Steam for 7 years.
