The best way to hunt for power nodes is to crank up your brightness and check the walls of anywhere thats a challenge to get to. iirc some of them are in random places but most of them (or the ones I've found) have been in areas that involved a set piece or big battle.

Sell any air canisters and statis packs you come across. I can't think of a single time in my two playthroughs that I needed to use either.
Also, avoid the flamethrower like the plague. Rarely has there been such a useless weapon in gaming.

I think I only used a stasis pack in the chapter
where the regenerator returns
because, well, there is not a single charger in the entire level that I could find.

It's best to keep one or two for emergencies (big ones especially) but yeah you can get rid of most of them safely.

Just finished my Impossible run through (in 3D!). Maxed out Contact Beam vs. Overmind = Cake. I was worried that I might have inadvertently screwed myself with my cutter/linegun/ripper/contact beam loadout, but that fight was easier than it was with the maxed pulse rifle on Hard (though I did blow a bunch of contact beam rounds during the 'picked up by the tentacle' bit. It is just really fucking hard to aim during that sequence. Ended up running out of C-beam ammo and having to use my barely upgraded at all cutter for the last pod).
Ready for DS2 now.

Is there a cheat to get more nodes? I'd never normally use one but I'm going to add up all the nodes I've got and find out what my deficit is. If there is a cheat I'm going to at least meet myself halfway.

if you beat the game you get a reward of 10 power nodes for your replay. but that doesn't help much.
All I can say is collect as many credits as you can and buy a few if you're low. I'm sure there's a cheat you can use, but I've never needed to.
I'm currently on Hydroponics on my 2nd impossible run. It's actually a cakewalk with the lvl 6 suit and all my upgrades and inventory carried over from the first playthrough. I hafta finish before tuesday.

Lol. You need an Xbox controller, all of the places I read refer to the PC version needing one to input codes. WTF?

That just shows how much of an afterthought cheats are nowadays.
Or maybe EA felt that Xbox gamers have better use for them since PC gamers are clearly superior in every way imaginable. :p
As for the Contact Beam, god that weapon is cool, but I never went with it during main runthroughs due to the tiny amounts of ammo, only gave it a shot in "round 2" (For obvious reasons to those who have been there as well.). Works great against the wall tentacles, one shot kill, the problem is actually hitting their weak spot.

I'll borrow an XBox controller then. First I've got to see if I have got a deficit or if I have enough nodes and just suck anyway! This is a distinct possibility.
