That's the same site that posted bullshit about talking to someone at Rockstar, confirming GTA IV wouldn't be coming to the PC, ever. Only, after people did some checking: this person they claimed to have talked to, didn't actually exist.
So, I'm not sure I would take them at their word about anything. But, it still does give me a bit of pause. That's two sources claiming the mouse control sucks.
Mind you . . . what's this crap about not being able to patch the game to make it work? Anything can be overcome with enough thought and dedication put into it. Ah, but there's the catch. EA actually has to give a damn about fixing the controls. So, will they? They have a pretty bad record when it comes to patching games.

I came across this today.

Quote:
With regards to the "buggy mouse movement, when I first started the game I noticed it big time in the menu system. After changing to my LCD's native resolution of 1680x1050 and turning off vsync, the mouse works perfectly fine. There is a very, very small perceptible amount of "lag" but I think it has more to do with the camera motion relative to your character than anything.
As I said, before changing resolutions and disabling vsync, the mouse problem was very apparent. After the changes, everything is basically normal.
Sounds like the same problem I heard about with the PC version of Pure. Seems that when the knuckleheads port to the PC, they're locking all of the game's update rate timers when VSync is on.
This might explain why some reviewers are saying the controls are shit, while others are saying it's fine. Different VSync settings. Either way, it still needs to be patched.

I can vouch for the last post.
Although I woudln't call it a small perceptible amount of lag. It was friggen monsterous. It defaults to 800x600 so i fixed that.. and the second I disabled vsync I think i gained about 45 or 50 fps and the game looks awesome.
The mouse controls are indeed something to get used to. Perhaps it would be different with a gamepad but I dont see the problem really.. The only gripe I have is that the mouse sensitivity slider.... really really really makes me feel like its a console port. I have it cranked and its too damn slow for me. Not that its really really slow its just.. I'd like it a notch faster. And once you're in aim mode it slows right down.
The 3rd person angle is giving me kind of a headache. and i think its because it works like any other 3rd person free camera type game you've played, except that the character is on the left hand side of the screen and the camera pivots around the centre of the screen... to the players right. So it takes some getting used to.
I've been playing for 15 minutes though and its is quite immersive and already I've had that chill down my spine I havent felt since my first playthrough of AVP2.
I'll post more the farther I get.
First impression though... Solid. Enjoyable. Mouse needs higher sensitivity.

Sounds like you control the camera as opposed to the player's "eyes" - didn't the original Silent Hill work like this?
It's annoying, disorienting and also a cheap way of getting scares by forcing the perspective off the player and allowing things to attack you from the blindside.

Yeah this seems to be the new thing with console games these days. It totally drove me nuts in assassin's creed.

They should've done it like Gears of War, which is basically a first-person-shooter with the camera pulled back. From the gameplay videos I've watched, this looks a bit sloppy and disorienting.

On 360 the camera/controlls works as good as e.g Gears...
The game is very atmospheric (its in the middle of the night here, playing on projector screen ~90").
Was too hard / frustrating on higest difficulty so i'm gonna replay on medium tomorrow (i've basicly just started and i hate when you play 3h or more into a game to discover it gets waaaay too hard for an enjoyable experience).

I wasn't overly impressed by any of the previews, although I didn't think it looked terrible either, but the response seems to be quite favorable and I think I might be in the mood for a big dumb AAA action game. A couple more endorsements in this thread and I'll be quite tempted to pick this up..
