I was under the impression that these people transformed, actually. While alive. Maybe I wasn't paying attention.

Uh, you mean you didn't realize that the mangled corpses that the bat things turn into more beasties are dead?

So, does anyone know the credits for all of the designers and producers for this game? It's not in the little book that comes with the game, and there isn't an option to view it in the game, though I assume the credits will role at the end. I saw a couple of designers listed on the wikipedia entry for the game, but it wasn't very helpful.
I'm not sure if I've missed a lot of conversation about this, but what was the deal with Randy Smith and Doug Church supposedly being involved with this game at one point? I haven't heard anything about them and this game recently, and don't know if that was just a made up rumor.
Is there some cool game-info wiki somewhere that collects information on games and game designers? Whoever these guys are, they obviously had System Shock in their heads while making it, which is nice to see, even if it might even be considered ripping it off a bit. But after Bioshock, I don't care, this is good enough.

There is in the PC version. From the main menu: Options > Credits.
Don't know about the other versions.

Mobygames will get around to it eventually.

Ouch. Yahtzee was rather harsh on Dead Space, wasn't he? I agree with him to a point.
It's eerie, but not scary. Does that make sense? I've been startled maybe four times, and right now I'm on the third chapter. It doesn't really give me the sense of dread that SS2 did, which is obviously one of its "inspirations".
Also, he's right about the Necromorphs playing dead. It does get old. Bioshock pulled the same shit with the Splicers. However, Dead Space does it less often than Bioshock did. At least, as far as I've played it.
He mentioned that Nicole was Isaac's wife. Funny, I could have sworn that she was his girlfriend. Maybe that detail is revealed at a later point.
He does like the Zero-G moments, and calls them "well done and creative". Funny enough, I thought Zero-G was going to be a lame gimmick when I saw the previews. But now that I've actually experienced it, I agree with him. It is rather fun, and used well.
Despite obviously ripping off many different sources and being filled with clichés . . . somehow, it's all been blended together in a rather compelling way. To use a cliché myself: the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I'm really liking it, even though I know I shouldn't. It's more of a spiritual successor to SS2 than Bioshock is.
Now, if EA would just release a patch to fix a few minor annoyances in the PC version (full keyboard re-mapping please!) I'd actually have to congratulate them on Dead Space. Even with the DRM shenanigans. Damn, I can't believe I just said that. :p

Thanks for not giving us a "Disable Joystick/Gamepad" option in the menus, either.
Yeah, what the hell. I can't remember the last game I played that forced joysticks on by default. I had to ALT-F4 to exit the first time, because my only gaming peripheral is a Logi G25 and the Y axis always being negative made the menu flip out.

The brick part was funny.

Wow. Way to make a game that seems really great EA, and then cripple it with the worst camera I've ever used.
I hope to god someone figures out how to mod the view to either first person or usable third instead of this "permanently stuck in splinter cell's aim-mode" bullshit.

I had no problems with control or the view (probably made for widescreen), but sound in DS is whack. If I have the volume set so I can hear audio logs etc whenever there's action it gets way too loud. I know it's a horror game and loud sound has a function but Jesus Christ it's like there's a Metallica concert every time there's a monster around.
