Is this game worth struggling with these huge annoyances in the gameplay basics? Should I try again?
Turn off VSync as Ostriig suggested.
I hate the controls too. I think it's stupid to lock the arrows keys for menu navigation only. I had to adapt to an entirely new keys for this type of game.
Of course it was a matter of time before I got used to it.
The game has its flawes, but there aren't many and that one is one of them. I suggest to do not give up so easily.

Um, sorry, just a little correction there - first off, it's catbarf's suggestion, and second, he's saying that V-Sync should be Off from the game, and forced On from the video card settings.

Wow. No wonder they didn't release a demo. This game is nearly unplayable on the pc. The movement and mouse control are horrendous. I can't use my usual keys because the numpad and arrows are locked for the RIG mode and the zoomed in FOV is hurting my eyes. After five minutes I shut down the game... What a fucking slap in the face.

The PC version was completely unplayable for me (I also game with the Numpad, and couldn't bind my keys there). I actually took the time to boot up the game in order to show a few people what a really bad PC port is like. Whoever thought it'd be a good idea to make the mouse cursor drag across the screen like a sack of mud (controller programming, with added lag just to make you cry), even on the main-screen, should be deported to Malaysia.
I played it on Xbox, and enjoyed it, since you can't get anything better on PC. Wrote this review: ((

If you would read the thread or any forum discussing this game you'd realize that you could be playing it smoothly if you'd just disable Vsync Theres like 3 whole pages discussing it on this thread alone!

I see. However, you can't expect someone to want to read through a 20 page thread just to find the 3 pages you mention, before posting. I don't live on the forums, nor am I psychic enough to know that somewhere in these 20 pages is an unlikely solution I should be looking for.

Man, I am trying so hard to like this game and I honestly can't find anything redeemable about it. I feel like I'm playing some beta version of Doom 3 with the gore and shock removed while some dude in a ren faire costume keeps standing in front of the monitor.

Doom3 is nearly ten times worse in all aspects ;)

Yes, if only it had a "draw a line on the floor to my next objective" key and stuck the camera 6 inches behind the character's back, it would be a much better game.

I also thought Doom3 was a poor version of this game, in comparison. Imo, Doom3 wishes its monsters, weapons, and portrayal of a space-station-like facility was this cool.

Despite being a terrible game mechanic, I'm glad for having the breadcrumbs, as the map is completely useless and impossible to use.
