I thought the camera was exactly the same as RE4's? It has been a while since I played that though so I may be remembering the camera incorrectly.

RE4 zooms in over the shoulder when aiming instead of constantly having the character's right shoulder taking up half the screen. That's the thing that sucks about Dead Space's camera - it's not the view when fighting, it's the way your character makes it impossible to see what you're doing when not fighting.

right...
* ive got mouse sensativity on max, but need it faster.
* the aiming speed is too slow, is there a way to speed this up..?
* is there a way to have always run enabled..?

* Go into the Control Panel mouse applet and disable "pointer precision".
* Overclock the USB polling rates by hacking usbport.sys; 1000Hz/1ms is the ideal variable. You can do this natively from Razer or Logitech mouse driver control panel applets.

No.
I'm not sure if the game has different walking speeds via analogue movement, I'll play the 360 demo again.
FYI The PC version natively supports the 360 pad, not that a gamepad's controls are any better than mouse+keyboard (the usual mouse vs. dual analogue stick rules apply).

Regardless of who your being acerbic with, this isnt comm chat...
That's exactly why I responded to your post acerbically.
Generally the discussions in gengaming are to the point and relatively well behaved. If you just look at the thread title you had picked out and compare them to the rest of the titles on the first page, you sort of set the tone.
And then you continued with points that were were rather immature and aggressive:* Yes, the vsync thing is annoying, but you yourself even indicate you hadn't tried fixing it.* Fixed keybindings rarely cause a whole game to be a piece of sh*t, as you put it. And though it would be nice if they could be customized, they are not that awful that they render the game unplayable / not fun.* The 3rd person thing is is basically part of the game. Yes you are right that potentially the game could be a lot better if it allowed a 1st person view, but again it doesn't make the game a steaming pile of sh*t.
But the most annoying thing about your post was that your started a new thread for it, completely discarding this thread (were it has since duly been added to), quoting some rants on another forum. Why? All the points you made had long been discussed in this thread.
Then again, this:

The long and short of it, is more and more games are being released in a half arsed state, not fit for purpose etc. And the only option I and others are left with (other than bitching about it - because the publishers (EA) dont give a f*ck) is to never buy a game without playing the demo first. As you know most shops now wont let you return a game even if it is a pile of sh*t not worthy or putting you cup of coffee on...
is better. Less immature, even though you do seem to like words with an asterisk in 'm a bit much, but apparently you're angry or something. But it should be pointed out that now suddenly Dead Space is no longer your topic of choice.
Indeed not being able to try a game without buying it is annoying. It seems to me that they try to ride the hype they bought/created for as long as they can since the actual games generally can't live up to it.
So all that is left is to read reviews and read or ask the forums. Gengaming is great in this respect.

Biker is a very helpful fellow in Thief and Tech and I wouldn't want him to leave those forums, but he comes off as a bit of a whiny prick here. Some of his complaints are legitimate complaints that he takes into extremes until they're downright silly. It's like this guy I know who refuses to play Stalker because you couldn't adjust the HDR settings from the menu.

Finally got this today (PC version, natch) after knocking three games out of my backlog, and have played through to the end of Chapter 3 on hard.
Early impressions:
1. The Camera: While not great, it's not nearly as bad as many are making it out to be. This may be on account of me playing in widescreen, but it's only a half step backward from RE4's. My only real problem is that it's often really hard to find a good angle to read a lot of the graffiti. (And seriously Bikerdude, what the fuck is wrong with you that maximum mouse sensitivity isn't fast enough? I had to turn it back down to medium after a couple of minutes because it was too damn disorienting. Are you toggled to aim mode all the time?)
2. Overall Performance: Smooth as buttered silk dipped in KY. I'm almost shocked that a game this pretty runs as well as it does at 1920x1080 with everything maxed on my upper-middle end rig (Radeon 3870, 2 gigs RAM, Athlon 64 X2 6000+). Load times so fast I don't even have time to read the chapter names. And stable as a rock, to boot (aside from one crash in the speaker test).
3. The Game: Damned atmospheric. I'm only a quarter of the way through, but there have been some incredible environments already. The medical centre with the broken door that you hear thumping in the background, and you get attacked by five necromorphs is my favourite so far, in terms of designed tension. The bits where you go through sections where the hull is breached are just plain lovely, and zero-g is fun. The kinesis and stasis mechanics are also pretty brilliant. Grabbing one of those little explosive canisters and nailing one of those tailed crawly things with it in zero-g is already in my top gaming moments of the year. As is freezing two bastards, dropping the line gun's mine next to them, and the mine going off right as a third one pounced into range, dicing all three of them.
Pretty damn brilliant game so far.

I was wondering about that. I don't think the game's camera setup is particularly suited to 4:3 screens, which might be why people like JM are bitching about it. It certainly didn't annoy me that much on widescreen.

I use a 4:3 screen and haven't had a problem.

the mouse sensitivity only seemed adequate after Eva's suggestion (forcing vsync in your GPU control panel and not in the game). Without it, it was way too slow.
