Hey, I just finished this game, and you know what? It's Ok. Points that stuck out:
1. The romantic subplot was executed with such a bizarre lack of context or conviction that I can't decide whether it was to make it seem like a dream-like hallucination or it was the result of general story-telling incompetence.
2. Where are all the black/asian/latin or whatever necro-things? All I saw was pasty white zombies with the same haircut.
3. The ripper is somehow less fun than it should be, and vice-versa for the contact beam.
4. The space-bits when you step outside the hull are jaw-droppingly pretty.
5. You should have spent a lot more time exploring the colony. Missed opportunity for some horror logs there.
6. In general its quite a laugh, but less so than RE4.
Also, the comics/film have kinda overexposed and over-exposited a story which, although pretty good in many respects, is not good enough to support three full length investigations of it.

Just having another legitimate whine, getting straight to the point, taking care to omit any asterisk's...
Followed EvaUnit's instructions, its better but still no where near good enough, it still takes far too long to swing around when armed.
And due to the un-configurable/un-mappable keys issue, I've resorted to wedging the shift key down so always run is on.
And yet another annoyance/glaring bug, if any enemy is at the players feet and the player has to resort to swinging at said enemy(because he is out of ammo), all the player succeeds in doing is swinging through the air, not actually hitting the enemy...
bunch of cunt fucking arse. :erg:

Anyway, I got to play around w/this game for a bit at the PC shop up the road. It is really interesting and will be one of the first games I buy when I upgrade this summer. I actually was given a new workstation at work w/an 8600 and a Athlon X2 and 2 gigs of RAM and Windows Vista Business. I may get it and Bioshock for some off the clock shenanigans. It is hooked up to a nice monitor and also a LG scarlet 1080p, so I can play it on the bigscreen. We use it for veterinary videos for the waiting room. Be funny to play when we were open...

j but you are very clearly doing it wrong, because the keys are perfectly remappable. And also you DO realize you can stomp, right?
........<sigh>, if I was able to remap the fucking keys I would have fucking done so already, either vista is the culpriet or the distro/version of my copy of the game. And I have stomped but found it inefective, much like the other controls in this game. Anyway, game gen is just tad too much like comm chat, so I'll find my games based solutions elsewear.

Too much like Commchat? You're the one screaming swear words in every post you make. Come on- "cunt fucking arse"?
I realize you're quite the helpful fellow in the sections you usually hang out in but you've been acting like a big giant baby in this thread- is it any wonder why you're getting eaten alive?
Also, if you can't remap the keys I'm pretty sure it's you.

I'm unable to remap some keys myself, but I think that is just because they are already in use. Like I tried to map Enter to action/use but that didn't work, later saw that both Enters were already in use in rig mode.
And the mouse speed is indeed ridiculously slow in aiming mode. I read somewhere in this thread that forcing vsync with the video driver will increase the speed, hopefully that'll do the trick on my end.
Fafhrd on 14/1/2009 at 21:45
Yeah, the RIG controls can't be re-mapped, which is something that I wish was different, but it's not in any way shape or form a game breaker. Unless you're Bikerdude.
And disabling vsynch altogether should work fine. The aim mode speed is SUPPOSED to be slow, you're using jerry-rigged mining equipment, after all.

Even if you disable it altogether, it's slower than when you force Vsync outside the game.

I fail to see how carrying jerry-rigged mining equipment will make it take substantially longer for me to turn around or move my arm.

When I needed to turn around fast. I would let go of the aim button and spin around. Think about how you'd do it IRL. I wouldn't have my arm extended while im spinning on my heel...
