I found the Force Gun to be indispensible. One shot at point blank was enough to kill almost any enemy, and none could survive a second once it was upgraded. Coupled with the Plasma Rifle for long range attacks, I didn't need anything else.
Can it take out several mobs in one shot? Not arguing, just curious. I doubt they'd put shit useless weapons in the game, I'm sure everything is good at something, the rifle for example is great for hitting those glowing weak spots for example. THough the ripper was kind of useless on things you'd expect it to be great at. More of a gore weapon I think.
I just found the line gun and cutter to be the most economical with nodes.

Yeah, I used the same combo (btw, isn't that 'Pulse Rifle'?). The Force Gun is essentially the shotgun of the game.
@DaBeast
It can damage several emenies at once. It's a good panic weapon if you're surrounded, because it also pushes enemies away.

Don't forget about secondary attack of the Force Gun. The grenade is really useful - getting rid of distant enemies before they get closer.

If you're in cramped corridors you can hit, and possibly kill, several necromorphs in one go (Though you have to get in close). Those that don't die usually get knocked over so you can get a couple of free stamps in to save on ammo.

Ah yes, I'm getting confused with the Plasma Cutter, been a while since I played it.
I suppose it's a case of different strokes for different folks. I finished the game on Impossible mode without too much difficulty focusing mainly on those two weapons. Some people swear by the ripper, but when I tried it I found it rather clumsy and unreliable.

Sorry for the OT, but since this is my favorite game right now. . . :p
I won't be playing Dead Space for a while. When I fired up my PC today I was greeted with this message (written from memory):
"The file /WINDOWS/system32/config/SYSTEM is missing or corrupted.
Insert WinXP CD and press 'r' to repair the file."
I have no clue what caused the registry to crap out out of thin air, but thankfully 99% of my data is located on the non-OS hard drive as well as my ext. HDD, so there isn't too much at risk. (assuming I can set up the second HDD within a new OS install and be able to access the data on it, please tell me I'm not wrong about this (this stuff isn't my specialty))

Yup, that'll work. Once you recover the data, it'd be a good idea to do a full format of the drive to physically check the disk and run a good anti-virus scan through all your drives. Stuff like this also happens sometimes if you're overclocking your PC.

Boot off of the Windows disc and perform a repair installation.
Bjossi on 22/1/2009 at 19:30
Alright, thanks for the tips. I just need to find that XP disc, I haven't had to use it in almost 3 years, it might not even be in my house anymore. . .
Again, sorry for the thread derail.

IMHO, I wouldn't disc boot and repair the install. Since you are SMART and installed Windows to its own partition and/or drive, I would just re-install (which means formatting the drive/partition). Much better results in the long run. the repair tends to be a 'cross your fingers and hope it works' waste of time in my experience.

@ shock3r
Both endings may be cliche, but Dead Space's developers clearly imitated System Shock 2 overall in tons of stylistic ways and here is no exception. System Shock 2's imitating others before doesn't preclude Dead Space's most immediate inspiration being SS2.
Agreed 100%
