Before: Both Windows and pagefile were located on a 7200 RPM SATA drive. Pagefile starts at 2 GB and grows up to 4 GB as needed.
Now: Windows is on a 69 GB 10,000 RPM Raptor, pagefile is on a 698 GB 7200 RPM SATA2 drive. Same pagefile settings as before.
Dead Space levels now take 2 - 3 times longer to load than before. Either there is something else causing the slowdown or my computer hates me. :erg:
Anyway, that savegame is pretty good, EvaUnit, though I'd have spent more upgrade nodes on the stasis module. And btw, I gave Contact Beam a first try (fired test shots at a wall, no bad guys nearby) few minutes ago and I gotta say it feels and sounds very powerful, a real shame that it is underpowered.

Set pagefiles for both drives, "system management" size should be good.

Didn't change the loading speed, perhaps this is driver-related.
Ah well, the loading times aren't ridiculously long despite this and in-game performance is as good as before.
EDIT: Fixed it. . . by disabling the in-game vsync. Is that setting a troublemaker or what? :weird:

LOL, nice. No shit! I have never heard of a more disruptive V>Sync in my life.
Anyway, glad you figured it out!
[edit]
LOL, what a lame 1000th post.

IIRC, Deadly Shadows (or was it Gothic 3 ?). Turning v-sync off increased loading speed about 1.5-2 times for me ;) I guess the progress bar is the reason.

Dunno if this was mentioned already or not - Dead Space was originally planned for the original Xbox. Video of the prototype (bad quality I'm afraid):

Weird.

I thought it was common knowledge that they began their development last-gen. Oh well, would've been just as good on Xbox/PC from that era. We only gained better graphics/larger levels/faster loads.

The levels in Dead Space aren't all that big imo.

Yeah, I have only yet played 15 minutes of it, so I didn't realize. I actually have it installed @ work, and plan on finishing it after my virgin run of BioShock.
