(and the overblown soundtrack I loathe)
Just turn it off. The game has pretty good sound ambience anyway, no need for the music.

Yeah, I turned off the music too. Hate that dynamic crap.
I skipped hard and went straight from normal to impossible. Once you know all the enemy scripting and which weapons are worthwhile, it's too easy. Also stasis is even more overpowered than bullet time in F.E.A.R. The only time I died was medical deck revisited.
BTW anyone else love the military suit? It makes Isaac look a little like a panda bear :3

The music didn't bother me. I think I got lucky and it was spot-on for me. Hell I got lucky with all the game's supposed technical problems.

I like Isaac's suit as well, it looks weird but cool at the same time.
Also, I love his screams of pain/terror/etc., especially when the wall-tentacles grab him.

So I just got to the bridge and killed my first Brute. With a fully-upgraded Pulse Rifle, it took fifty-ish shots. The only trick was getting him stunned without any stasis left- I got a lucky hit from the front, and as he hunkered down I ran around behind and unloaded. I can see that I may have trouble killing late-game enemies, so I'm keeping a Ripper in storage and taking it out occasionally to upgrade it. But this rifle is incredibly powerful, it kills everything from Slashers to Pregnants in just a few bursts.

There were times where the Gordon Freeman-esque mute act worked against the game's favour and broke immersion. I.e. Everything in regards to his wife, Nicole.

Only 50 rounds? Nice.
If you're playing on normal, probably the only things that will give you a problem are those wall-fatties and black brutes. And even then, it probably won't be too big an issue.
On impossible though, yeargh.

I found it incredibly hard. I also gave myself about a month between playthroughs. You may know where they are but they take more ammo to kill and they behave differently.
Playing normal I never had a slasher tuck its arms into its body so you couldn't shoot them off. It happened constantly (to me) on impossible.

Or when you encounter Hammond on Hydroponics. 'Yeah, you're choking to death on the floor... I'm just going to leave you without saying a word.'

I actually managed to do it again with the second Brute.

Yeah, I've fought two of the wall-hugging bastards so far and it's been difficult. Each one has soaked up around a hundred rounds, so I'm getting out the Ripper and putting upgrades into it. I figure the rifle's good for long range and general purpose, and then the ripper's for when I need something dead
now.
