If you use a node on the door near the panel, then run in there once activating the panel and down to the end of the corridor and just hunker down and shoot anything that comes. Dead easy once you do that...

But is that really a good idea with the
kamikazes and pregnant?

I used that strategy myself, made the fight very easy indeed. You can take out the kamiz with 2 well-aimed cutter shots and they will blow up without damaging you. The pregnant necro never drops into the room though, I have to go outside once I've killed all the others and lure it to me. Two line gun shots took it out with ease.
In fact the fight was so easy that I restarted several times because I was not happy with what the bad guys dropped when they died. :p

Jesus fucking christ, I'm getting seriously pwned in the very first room of deck D. I can't for the life of me kill the necro-resurrecting bastard(s?) before I get swarmed by slashers. It probably wouldn't be much of a problem if I wasn't concerned about ammo though.
This is the one situation where the ripper would be ideal, I'd say. That thing can take out many limbs with a single blade if you're quick enough, and you could get a pack of 4 blades in return. It was a bad idea to sell it. . . :o

You mean the infectors?
They won't attack the area in front of the elevator unless you do something to get their attention.
Keep in mind that you can attack through the gaps in the wall, also you can use kinesis on those flesh pods lying around and if you do it right, you can kill the enemies without using a single bit of ammo.
In all my playthroughs, the infectors only created two slashers at that point.
And ripper sucks. Forever and always.

That's right. When I was playing that bit, I saw the infectors and decided to do a quick jog around the area to see how many other necromorphs were around at the same time.
For some reason, after I'd finished circling around, none of the slashers had followed me back to the elevator area. And what was more, they seemed slightly reluctant to come up there.
Which was great, since all I had to do at that point was use the classic (and incredibly cheap :D) bait 'n wait tactic to clear the area.

Yup, I found that out pretty early, but when they do attack they come all at once, which even with stasis is overwhelming for poor Isaac (or at least my personal Issac :p).

I got myself a stasis pack through one of those gaps. Haven't noticed the pods though, I better look into that to save ammo.

I disagree, but only to a certain point. It is indeed a weak weapon, but it is very effective for taking out many limbs in one go since the blade lasts for a few seconds. I can easily kill fetus monsters with a single blade, by waiting for them to shoot out the limbs, stasis them and cut the limbs off one by one.
Without stasis, however, using the ripper always costs me 2+ blades and lots of health. So I would only bother with it if 1 - 2 bad guys were attacking at a time and I got stasis handy.
Kyumaru on 31/3/2009 at 22:39
Hmmmm...I don't recall having any ammo issues on impossible but if running out is such a concern to you, why not stick to using kinesis? It's quite effective if you're not being pressured and of course, takes no ammunition.
It's just that by carrying the ripper with you, you're going to end up with a lot of ripper ammunition which means you're obligated to use it which means you get more ripper ammunition and its already sub-par performance only nose-dives the further in you get :erg:
Man, I hate the ripper. That reliance on stasis is going to become more and more of a problem in the coming decks if I recall properly.
Bjossi on 31/3/2009 at 23:35
That will become a problem for me, regardless of what weapons I use.
