I only use the breadcrumbs if I get terribly stuck, which didn't happen too often. ;)
And yeah, it is more about learning patterns than being skilled when dealing with bosses. Though mini-bosses like our friend we first meet in ch. 5 was pretty challenging, it really gets the heartbeat up when one is locked in a room with that thing plus some minions. :)
Tell me about it. I've gone through at least 2 sets of boxers tonight just on that sequence :tsktsk:

The aesthetics of the bastard is what scares me the most; the sounds especially. Even if I stasis him and cut off the legs, I'm so damn scared that I just run around the room like a headless chicken while trying to kill the minions as quickly as possible. :erg:

on replay the bit where you get locked in and have to wait is the hardest. later you know what will happen
and I froze him in 2 seconds in the last chamber. well, for me the best sequences are when you are in a medium sized room and get swarmed by them, no more stasis left or things to throw.....then my panic weapon gets drawn....mostly 2ndary fire like contact beam or pulse rifle. force gun is good as well to keep distance. on impossible I upgraded the rifle and keept it only for its 2ndary....cutter and line is much better for surgical precision :)
something I can agree on:
(

but the 3rd person didn't "click" for me as described there.

I'm pretty sure the "waiting" is actually dependent on how many minions you kill. At least the time it took Kendra to unlock the door seemed much shorter when I concentrated on killing the minions rather than just running around and waiting.

Okay I think the thing about the asteroids is: don't expect to have good reflexes at 3:30 in the morning. I just tried right now for the first time since last night and got it immediately, and even scored well enough for the achievement. The one trick I might suggest is to focus on the rocks in the middle and just let the ones on the edge pass, unless you either have a huge window to deviate to the edge of the screen, or if the rock is a big one.

hmm, that's what I did. chokepoint - stasis - kill everything and just cut off the big monsters legs so it has to crawl around and saves you stasis for it. I think on impossible it's just more monsters than on easy or it takes longer to kill 'em 'cause of the hitpoints.
Bjossi on 28/4/2009 at 16:27
More necros would make things extremely difficult since on higher difficulties the hitpoints get ramped up like there is no tomorrow. Never tried Impossible but Hard most certainly stays true to its name.

yeah, but impossible is doable. I never finished it but came pretty far and since I spent all money on powernodes I always had an ammo / medkit problem which fitted the "survival" theme of DS pretty good. like I said, the hardest encounters are necros swarming you. the boss fights are more or less easy compared to those moments (e.g. pushing the marker) and since you already played the game on hard to unlock impossible you know what to do.

We already discussed it, I believe. It reminds me very strongly of Penumbra.
