Deadly Shadows: can't restart game - please help. - by Tintin

I reinstalled Thief DS and then proceeded to copy my save files to the Save Game folder. All good. I went into the game and loaded an 'old' game slot. Still all good. But then I died. It gives me the option RESTART, I click it and instead of letting me restart the level Garret's body lies on the ground and the camera rotates around him, over and over again. I can't restart the level. Anyone know how to fix this? I'm in the Hammerite Cathedral level.
Thanks

Not a clue, but surely thou must have a save presently before the death?!?!

Yes, I have but I wish to restart the level as the High Priest doesn't leave his room when I sound the cathedral bell.

OK, my memory of DS is pleasantly fading, but in Thief I, you could restart the Mission at *any* time during said Mission, not only after death.
Can you do that in DS as well? And if so, why not do that then?

Pleasantly fading? Ha, ha, that's good. Thief DS isn't as good as Thief Gold and Thief 2 but it isn't too bad.
Normally I could restart a level like that but this doesn't seem to be the case. I restart the level and it just goes back to where Garrett is dead and the camera rotates on and on...
And no I didn't save the moment I died.

Now that certainly is new information!
So, when you restart the Mission from any point, it reloads as Garrett dead?
If I never played Thief I, I would have surely loved DS. Unfortunately, I've been long tainted.

You've got it in one.
My favourites are Thief 2: The Metal Age, then Thief Gold and then a way down the track Thief: DS.
