Try changing your V-Sync setting, if you can. It's also been connected with your problems. Sorry I can't point you to it, I've never found it anywhere on my system where people have said to look.

so do you mean a v-sync setting that is not the one in the Thief options?
RGL on 31/12/2008 at 00:04
I've changed v-sync in video options and the thief options and it doesn't fix anything.
I don't suppose there is a noclip type of command for the engine?
Or failing that a way to end the level as there was with Thief 1 & 2?

I'll give that a try thanks.
I remembered that about a year ago I used a cracked version of the exe to stop the disk being required. So I deleted the game, re-installed and am now using the proper exe with the disk in the drive and the problem still occurs.
There is no problem with other ladders as far as I can see.

There are some legal versions which don't require the disk, so you could express this without upsetting the moderators. :p

Yes is was a legal one. I believe it was the Thief.exed that shipped with dromed or something?
Anyway it's all a moot point as I have now added an XP partition to my laptop and have just got dual boot working happily. Thief DS is installed from my DVD and I'm about to go through the various things to get it working on a dual core.
:)
Update - it works! I went to the Pagan Tunnels and the ladder worked fine. As a bonus the game runs a lot smoother and everything is generally polished (it didn't before).

That's great news. Glad you got it working.
