Deadly Shadows, that free version at GameTap... - by jtr7

Yeah, it's the full thing. I haven't downloaded it myself but I've downloaded a few of their other free games(Fallout, Rogue Trooper, Second Sight) and they all work, althrough I have been having sluggish mouse problems in some games. Don't ask me how they manage to get down the file-sizes so much. I'm pretty sure all the games I've downloaded have had full music/movies.
Anyway, if you've downloaded GameTap I highly reccomend you play Mr. Robot. Kick-ass indie-developed isometric RPG/puzzle-game. :thumb:

Are they giving away TDS for free now? That's funny, considering what you have to pay for a Thief Gold copy these days...
I have TDS but if this includes the full movies and everything at non-reduced quality I'd actually prefer it to the boxed version since I can play it without a CD/DVD in the drive. Does it have all the movies and everything at non-reduced quality?

They're not really giving it away for free. GameTap is a subscription gaming service that allows certain games in their catalog to be played for free in order to help promote their service. You have to download GameTap's software and watch a brief 30 second ad each time you start a game. Also, the games aren't modable: the file systems of the GameTap games that I've played are completely different from their usual versions.

What the Raven says is true. Either it has to do with DRM or somesuch, or just with more efficient packaging, the Deadly Shadows program files also have a different structure than the original installed files. In any case, .ini file editing won't work. Neither will any other modding. T3Ed is right out the window.
Other than that, once you've booted it up and gotten past the short commercial, the TDS experience from GameTap is as vanilla and out-of-the-box as can be. Like it or not.
Oh, and yes, Mr. Robot is indeed well worthy of your time if you should feel adventurous. I like its turn-based tactical combat system, too.

So does that exclude fan missions that use a custom gamesys?
