Now that I read the first few posts, I see you're experiencing this almost every time you climb a rope, in T2, and that it started with a particular FM but persists now even though you've long since uninstalled that FM. If that's true, I would personally do a clean reinstall of T2 and see if it goes away.

Sound advice, and just what I intend to try. Thank you.

Okay, I reinstalled T2 and it still happens.
It NEVER HAPPENS in the version of T2 where I have T2X installed when I'm playing T2X.
It hasn't happened yet in the original Thief game.
It seems to be only a problem with all the FMs. What could that mean?
I don't really know enough about the different elements of these missions to know what could be making the difference. Maybe a script bug?

Rope bouncing the player is engine bug, it doesn't depend on what mission one's playing. But I noticed the more possibility of this bug on fresh-shot rope arrows.

That's the thing WC, she said several times already she only sees it in FMs, and it happens every time she climbs a rope in an FM. That's not the old rope bug that we all encounter on occasion.

I did think that the problem might be because I was too all-fired hot to jump up on that rope. So I tried waiting. And waiting. And waiting. And I still get thrown. And usually I die from it.
Once in a blue moon, if I shoot an arrow up into an eave, say, then wedge myself between the building and the rope, I'll get to climb without being thrown. How weird is that?

I think it's fixed. At least it hasn't happened yet in all my testing.
I bought a new Thief2 and installed it. The rope bug hasn't discovered this new install yet. I hope the game stays good for a while. Roping up to things is a favorite activity (next to blackjacking!)
Thanks for the help. And it was fun hearing about other people's weird buggies. Made me LOL a few times ...

Enjoy it for as long as it may last! Happy climbing!
