So last March, I wrote a rather lengthy response paper as my midterm for my independent study in video game narrative. I finally got around to revising it, and I figured I'd share it with you guys, both because you may find it interesting and because I'd appreciate feedback/criticism (which I will likely incorporate into the final). It's too long to post here, so I'm going to link to where I have it located off-site. It's split between the two links as it was too large to post on a single LiveJournal entry. And as noted in the entry opening, this contains spoilers for the beginning of Far Cry 2 as well as the entirety of The Majest of Colors, You Only Live Once, Floatpoint, and Facade. So if you don't want to know plot details, play them before you read this!
