6) And read the FAQ. You probably need to use -nomovies, or the game will crash whenever you exit a mine :/
edit2: er, except it still crashed on my machine even with -nomovies. Ah well.
that is really really odd. i tried to launch with -nomovies and it gives me an error and won't even launch
but then i dumped the descent1.hog and .pig in there and loaded it up and played through the first level, killed the reactor, and it showed the mine exiting sequence, the loadout, and loaded the 2nd level just fine. no problems at all
so i'm not really sure what's wrong with yours
dude, this pretty much negates the need for d1 completely now. i am VERY impressed and happy about this.
it was REALLY freaky playing through the first level of d1 with the d2 engine, because all the places were the same, but the people were different. d2's AI is so much quicker , it's scary. i can usually breeze through level 1 on ace and hardly get hit, but i almost died with the d2 ai. craziness!

Excellent! (I'm guessing you need this more than I do, after all :)

Well the author says in the FAQ that he can't reproduce this problem on his system, although it clearly happens to several other folk. Glad you're one of the lucky ones.

Ha! I haven't played the games nearly (or recently) enough to be able to pick up on something like that. It should make for a nice new challenge for you :)

the d1 ai will just sit and wait for you to find them and slaughter them. d2 ai is freaky, it comes and searches you out. if it hears you open a door or shoot a shot or something, it will come flying halfway across the level to beat you up. :)

Why software rendering?
Also, you need to resize that image (see the forum rules; the "Guidelines" link down below).

So, anyone up for some Co-op multiplayer later today? I'll go open up a #Descent chatroom on IRC if anyone wants to get in on that. D2X-XL does support TCP/UDP internet play, so let's have some fun with that.

I never liked Descent. What's the name of that one, similar, that had the best 3DFX graphics in it's time, that featured hoverbikers and tanks and stuff? I liked that one best. I forget it's bloody name!
Oh, i got it now... Forsaken
Inline Image:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/vaughn.cooper/forsaken.gifCripes, it still looks damn good, even today!

not software, i just disable all the smoothing because i like it to look "crusty".
co-op is the best thing ever :)

So I guess you decided to force a moderator to delete that oversized image?
