Desert Island Games. - by gunsmoke

You know the drill. In fact, I think I made one of these years ago, but games and tastes (not to mention forum memberships), have changed since then. So let's do this.
So, you're stuck all by yourself far from civilization (but for some strange reason have HDTV, a PC, and power, lol)
Rules are simple:
1. You may have one system. Either a PC, 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, NES, PSP, DSi, etc... (the new 3DS releases next month with 32 titles, so I guess you can pick that if you wish.
2. 3 games. If there is a re-release with several titles on one disc (like the Atari Anthology or whatnot) that counts as one. DLC is part of the game, so it doesn't take up another spot. Mods are allowed, so if you wanna include Thief and 1 million fan missions, go ahead. Same with Expansions, even if they are stand-alone like Crysis Warhead.
3. If you choose a PC, I encourage you not to cheese out and include emulators. It isn't against the rules per se, but I think it is wimping out. I want this to be about hard choices.
I am still mulling my list over, and will post it when I can.
GO!!!

1. PC
2. (Assuming you can't choose e.g. "THQ pack" from steam as 1 choice)
1) Stalker SoC Complete 2009
2) Morrowind (with some mods please?)
3) Civilisation (3, 4 or 5 - they each have their merits)
I haven't chosen my favourite 3 games (though SoC would feature there), but 3 which I think would give me a good variety of gaming styles with bias towards immersion style games. SoC with complete is a great single player game, with free play option at the end.
Morrowind is very immersive, not perfect, but HUGE with enough classes, skills and side-quests for a good number of play throughs.
Civ because it's very sand-boxy and I imagine would pair well with many days in solitude spent day-dreaming.

* Civilisation (no pun intended). Tonnes of replayability.
* TOEE (with latest Co8 Mod). I've never been able to put that game to rest. The combat system in combination with extensive character customisation gives this game almost infinite replayability.
* Operation Flashpoint. I haven't played this for years but I could imagine getting a lot of value out of it again.

PC
Civ II Haven't played it in ages but it's the one I always liked the best. Really hard to choose between this and SimCity 2000 but ultimately Civ is probably better island fodder.
Minecraft Ten years on a deserted island with Minecraft would inevitably result in something truly amazing.
Mirror's Edge What I play to relax. I've played through the beginning of Pirandello-Kruger something like a hundred times (until it gets hectic); just love the late afternoon lighting and distant sounds of traffic and the quiet music.
There's a conspicuous lack of RPGs and dude shooters in that list which I'd probably regret fairly soon, though.

I'm guessing we don't have internet in this scenario, so MP games and mods are out, right?
PC
GTA4 - I haven't played this on PC yet, but with both the DLCs there's a lot of fun to be had here. Also I could see myself having hours of fun with the film director mode. Making movies and then watching them. If I spent a few years by myself on a desert island I'm sure I'd have the Citizen Kane of machinima with me by the time I came back to civilization.
Minecraft - what reizak said.
Civilization 4 - I've had this game sitting next to my monitor for a year now, untouched. It's huge and daunting and if my experiences with Civ2 years ago is any indication, incredibly time-consuming. I also have a sneaking suspicion that once I start playing it it'll take a good while before I start actually enjoying it. As Sartre said, "hell is spending eternity with your friends", I'm assuming the same applies to your favourite games. They can only get worse. But something as foreign and scary and intimidating as Civ4 can only get better and better until it's as brilliant as people say it is.

@ henke: sure, why not? Mods are amended into the rules. If you want MP games, then that's fine, assume you can play MP.

PC. Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, (both with their respective DLC+mods) and, oh what the hell, Battlefield Bad Company 2, so I could have an internet and demand rescue. ;)

PC
Baldur's Gate 2 + TOB
Outcast
Planescape Torment

PC
Half Life 1 + Expansion and mods: (and modding tools so I could spend my days making stuff)
Diablo collection - not sure what is in this package but i figure diablo 2 is a bit of a grind. It's not like I enjoy it a lot but if im going to be stranded than I might as well go with something that will take up a crapload of my time. Be good to make goals to keep me sane.
I can't think of a third at the moment, i'm torn on a few things.

PC again.
I think I would pick Minecraft (for obvious reasons)
Doom 2 + ZDoom with as many mods as I could download
The third one is hard. I think Thief 2 + lots of FMs probably takes the vote, but other games like Age of Wonders Shadow Magic, Baldur's Gate 2, Jagged Alliance 2 or Silent Storm are pretty close.
And while I love Torment, I can image it wouldn't last hours and hours on the island.
