Not quite the revolution that Steam and other platforms are, but intriguing nonetheless. I'm a little skeptical about the 'any user can comment/review' aspect, thanks to my experiences with you fucks, but the idea of a one-stop shop for aftermarket content is brilliant.

Interesting, very interesting. I hope they do a good job and that it takes off.

hmm, do we need ANOTHER download service ? it's getting a bit crowded. I sure hoped Moddb or other mod/indie-sites would be the FIRST to do this after steam got so popular. but now we have gamersgate, direct2drive, greenhouse, EA download, everybody doing their own thing without any thoughts about compatibility and streamlining inbetween services.
I don't see me using this for mods that I already seek out/search for actively.

Noboby's holding a gun to your head and forcing you to use it now, are they?

I am only sad because I don't see much future for this service considering the (imo) bad timing. Had they come out sooner (and maybe open source) this would have gained much more momentum. I can't see them achieving much in the "shadow" of steam, for Mods it could be good but if they really wanna build on community services I think this is a lost cause, now is the time where established companies start getting money but startups will fail miserably, just like it was with the start of web 2.0 and the whole e-commerce bubble bursting at the end of '99.

What the hell are you on about mothra?
You don't get what this is do you? Open source? Why does it need to be open source?
mothra on 18/12/2009 at 18:18
it would enable mod teams to have a complete understanding of the platform and I assume easier development of assets, addons and customization of their presentation on the platform. another "closed" system is not the way to go imo, at least I don't like it as a potential customer if they wanna make money apart from just providing mods.

So how would you change it?
And answer the damn question about 12 year old gameplay mechanics in the Red Dead Redemption thread!:mad:
