College, 2 years ago. The word "Game" will stop you from being able to see websites. As will "Doom", "Quake" and "GTA".
But not sex, ****, ****, ****, or shockingly ****.
So there it is.

I just knew someone would eventually ask my secret for translating URLs into IP addresses! Oh well, secrets can't stay secrets forever!

Yah, or if that site ever goes down (we all know how stable .com's are), just search for 'nslookup' on Yahoo. Many .edu sites host nslookup pages, not to mention all the eccentric .com's that do as well.
nslookup is what e5c4p3_artist's link uses, and it just does a bare-bones translation between the hostname.domainname and ip address.
There are other utilities out there that do more (ping, traceroute, etc...), but they generally require understanding a touch more about networks. Look 'em up on the web if you're curious - it's worth it.

If using ping requires "more understanding of networks" then playing Tetris requires an advanced degree in mathemathics... ;)

What Talgor is trying to say is that the easiest way to get an IP from a domain name is to simply ping the server. To do this: go to run on the start menu and type "ping planetdeusex.com" or whatever name you want to find out...the IP will appear next to the name while it pings it. If you want to see the name on screen for more than 6 seconds, just go to the DOS prompt and type the same thing. (when you do RUN, the window only stays open while it's pinging.)
