I was just browsing Voodooextreme.com today, noticed something at the bottom of the page:
Deus Ex 2 update
It's a quickie, but if you're a fan like I am, it's all about the girth, baby! Warren Spector has given a short report on the current status of Deus Ex 2:
...the designers are just working on the first levels to test out new features. The 3D engine has yet to decided. The main character is once more Jack Denton...
Don't know where this info is from, might have been one of the guys talking to spector at E3.

Jack Denton?! Buh?!
Me thinks that the reporter got it screwed up cause surely Warren Spector wouldn't screw that one up.
And how are they doing levels without a 3d engine.
/me is concerned

Yeah the "Jack Denton" reference is odd to say the least. I'm guessing thats an author mistake as well :)
As far as doing the levels without an engine, I would imagine they are still in the drawing/text phase of designing the layout of various places and locations the player will visit. If they haven't decided on a 3D engine I'd think they were trying different ones out. Just a guess of course. I was hoping the game was further along though.
The PS2 version looks neat however, guess that will tie me over :) But I'll have to get used to how JC looks. I think I prefer the PC version.

We'd assume Jack Denton means "JC Denton", and well, what else would it be? :D
I'm glad to hear we'll be playing the same character though, I grew quite attached to the ol' guy. He seemed so idealistic and cheeky, yet clear headed and rational.. and heroic. Like me.
Yeah.

Hello Folks. Late last year in an online chat, Warren Spector did confirm that "DX2 would continue to follow the adventures of JC." :)
