The Quake III can't do huge/outdoor levels well enough, even with the Arena modifications. I think they're going to go with the Unreal 2 engine, or at least a very advanced version of the original Unreal engine (skeletal animation, facial expression, etc.)...

Oh yeah--drivable/flyable vehicles! I think a great level would be a base hostage rescue in which you could sneak out, drive out, or fly out of the complex depending on whether you could break into a jeep or helicopter...

I also think they should use the Unreal 2 engine. It might also be worth waiting to see what the Tribes 2, Team Fortress 2 engines can do. Especially considering Valve are making their own engine now. Other engines to think of...Litech 2?
Any other good ones i missed?

in DX2 i'd like to see an even richer and free world - not exactly as free or non-linear as Morrowind will be, but still lots of places to just go, and subquests to take on. and use vehicles like flying cars or motorcycles for transportation. it would be great if there was some section of the game taking place on a spacestation a la Citadel Station... and i'd really like to see some sort of Cyberspace terminals... it would fit in perfectly - jacking into them to collect information and shut off security, open electronically locked doors and fight security programs and one of the endings would be a battle against some AI taking place here... you know which game i'm thinking of.

DX2 as more of a "cyber-RPG" would be cool. More non-linearity and more open worlds. You'd need a hefty engine to do it but the technology's there.

i just had a vision... all the cities in DX was torn and falling apart, so in DX2 i'd really want to visit a huge blooming capital city of the future, with some vehicles driving around the streets - taking off and landing, but the main traffic taking place a few storages up... and so you can catch a cab and stuff... you get the idea... i'm hoping...

After just playing NOLF (No One Lives Forever) i must say that i want he Litech 2.0 engine to be used. That thins is really powerful.
You can drive vehicles, shoot out lights, the AI is FANTASTIC, good physics, runs well (better than Deus Ex), has excellent graphics and well yeah, its cool.

The Lithtech engine doesn't feel quite right though. It's hard to explain, but your character's movement just doesn't... feel right. Too jerky or bouncy or something. Maybe if they changed the play control a bit I'd agree. It is graphically pretty impressive. However Epic's new Unreal engine looks promising too.

I would have to agree that its not quite right, and there isnt much interaction. But just look at what ISA did with the Unreal engine to get Deus Ex, pretty good eh?
It would have to agree its between Litech, Unreal 2, Geo-Mod and the Serious Sam engine. Probably which ever one allows the easiest changine to implement the new stuff.
Probably Unreal 2, cause i would think it would be easier to change over,(consider they're using the Unreal engine now).

JC are my initials, incidently. Speaking of engines I have thought how blinding DX would look with the engine they used in Shenmue? Although I dont see it happening.
I think it could be intresting if the sequel to DX was a prequel. It might tie up a couple loose ends.
