I thought I had posted this topic last night, but I don't see it anywhere! I must be cracking up!
I saw Deus Ex at Best Buy for $10. It said "special edition" on it, but was only in a jewel case - no other packaging. I figured it was a demo version, but upon further inspection, it didn't state that it was anywhere on the case. In fact, it appeared to be the entire game and included a screenshot from Area 51 - very near the end of the game.
Does anyone know what this is? Is it the full regular version of the game? And what makes this a "special edition"?

I am pretty sure this is just a demo...I read that somewhere..I have seen it at Best Buy before also.

I've heard of this--it says "special limited edition" on the jewel case. In this case, it means that you're limited to the first part of the game. Bastards.

I was actually foolish enough to buy this version of the game. I had my doubts about it too, but nowhere on the package did it say that it was a demo, and the guy in the store said there was no reason to believe that it wasn't the full version. I just figured that the "Special Limited Edition" meant that it was a cheaper version without a box and a manual, being sold for a limited time. Well, I soon found out that I was wrong. When I got home and installed it, I found that it only had a few more maps than the demo version. I was pretty mad, but fortunately I was able to return it. A few days later I bought the full version at Software Etc. and I've been a happy man ever since.

Yea, my friend bought it, and it stopped it when he got to Hong Kong and gave him some punk ass message.

At Walmart they have the game for $19.95. And at CompUSA it's $29.95. I bought the game in December at Compusa for $34.95.

Sounds like an illegal partial-game CD rip-off.
