When we had an ATI Rage Pro, Deus Ex (not GOTY edition, btw) ran fine except for some reason most of the character's, especially Unatco and MJ12, had these weird patches covering their faces. Also, the water would often be multicolored stripes. For Xmas I got a geForce 2 MX400. Now Deus Ex looks great but after about 20-30 min of play, it will start getting really slow and will respond very sluggishly to my mouse movements and keystrokes. The sound gets really bad also (choppy and hard to hear), and even when I hit escape the mouse is slow on that menu too. If I then exit Deus Ex and go back to Win98, the mouse works fine and so does everything else. Can anyone help me?

Not directly relevant, but I have seen similar problems using an ATi Rage Pro with Black & White, although I think in this case the video card was integrated as part of the motherboard.
Damn Compaq machines. Don't know why my friends don't listen to me when I tell them not to buy from Time, Dixons or PC World.
As to your GeForce problem, I recommend the usual - latest drivers, latest direct x, latest patch. To fix sound, I found that turning on 3d sound helped, though I have no idea why <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

I haven't noticed any slowdowns with Deus Ex using a Geforce 2 MX, but occassionally in some areas there are green flouresant stripes where walls meet the floor. This problem is really bad for me in both Thief games where the sky also looks terrible.

I haven't tried playing Thief or Thief 2 w/ the Geforce yet, but I remember w/the Rage Pro in Thief 2 the graphics would from time to time go completely haywire, pink walls and the like. I will try putting it on 3d sound

hmm... i find i dont really get much slowdown but thats probably cos i got a Geforce 3
