Sorry if this seems a bit late

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif, but I'm one of those guys who don't feel the need to have a game right away when it comes out. Even if it's as good as Deus Ex. Just got it a week or so ago. Currently I'm in Hong Kong, and ready to fly out of there.
I would not have believed Deus Ex would be this good. Sure it's not perfect and I can think of lots of things that would make it even better, but compared to most games out there, this is pure gold. So far it seems well balanced in all aspects.
I didn't realize this before, but games like Thief, Deus Ex, Ultima Underworld have become my personal favourites.
After I complete Deus Ex, do you have any suggestions what else similar games to play?
I have already played Thief 2, and I am planning to buy System Shock 2, and Thief Gold. System Shock (1) won't run on my system. NOLF crashes too much (in some particular areas - always) and I can't even complete the training.
BTW. Is NOLF also related to Looking Glass somehow? Cause there's a forum here for it as I noticed

No One Lives Forever is not directly related to LGS, but NOLF 2 will be, and that's why the forum is up.
It's great that you finally got DX, and welcome to the DX world. Be sure to check out (

As for SS2....what the hell are you waiting for. I'm currently playing through it again as we speak, and I'm just now getting to deck 6. This game is simply great as well. One note though for this game. If you want to cut down on monster respawn, then get the patch and read the ReadMe.

Well it (SS1) does work actually, but I didn't want to bother you with the whole problem: no sound, mouse issues. Can't remember exactly but I think if I loaded the mouse drivers it didn't have enough memory or something.

Search the forums and learn how to make SS1 run. I did, and now it runs great. The only problem is my six year old son. He plays SS1 better than I do, even without mouselook.

already mentioned all of my favs. Deus Ex, System Shock 1-2, Thief2 and NOLF... hmmm, I think SS1 is the best of the lot, so i really hope you can get it to run... likewise with NOLF - it's so cool... I don't really know any more games of this type... but you know, Deus Ex is even better the 2nd time... I played it twice with only 1 week between and will run it again soon. and the same with NOLF - they are just so damn addictive and Deus Ex just evolves and grows the more you play it, it seems...

Well, don't feel bad about being behind everyone else. I don't get a lot of time to play (I have two kids) so I just started the game about a week ago myself. Great game!
