Well I guess Im done lurking now,
Heres my first post...

augmented taffers here. Ive enjoyed reading this group for a while, not to mention getting valuable help.
I just finished Deus Ex the other night and
thought Id post my impressions as well as expound on my love/hate relationship with this ground-breaking game. Ill try to spare
you the overly discussed stuff.
I played through as a sort of a sneaksy crossbow master, backstaber, & boobytrapper.
I avoided almost every gun fight in the game. (because I hate the AI) and generally tried to stay unnoticed throughout.
----Small things that ruled-------
-Im sneaking around avoiding 3 MJ12 Commandos
and a WIB, when I bump into a burningbarrel.
"Oww!!!, hot"
Yeah they heard me..
Damn, Im busted....
-That is sweet game immersion.
-Facing a dilemma of whether to use tools,
to disable the electric field to my left.
OR
use picks to free the repairbot to my right
I freed the bot, (in need of energy) and
after my recharge the little guy proceeded
to shut down the electric field for me as
well.
-Nice touch.
-PowerRecirc + Cloak + RunSilent..nuff said.
-Spider Bots
-Throwing Knives, there small and they rule.
-The way conversations differed depending on
the state of things.
On your way in to some facility, a certain
civy would help you gain access, but if you
found him on the way out instead, he would
help you escape.
-The way the music adds to the experience
and tension. (I personally dont like the
music, but in the game it rules)
-The DuClare chick telling me how she lost
here virginity out here.
-Setting traps under alarm panels.
Gets em everytime.
-Stealth pistol mastery + Targeting Aug
--------Small things that sucked---------
-The combat AI... (headless chickens?)
-Model animation, dont get me wrong, some
of them were nice (MJ12 Com, All bots).
But in a game this real I would like to see
motion capture models like in Hitman or
Soldier of fortune. Disagree?
-More time critical missions. I like to take
my time and enjoy every bit of a game, but
some objectives with time limits would have
fit well I think. (rescue @ the gas station)
-I had a problem with alot of the weapon
sounds. Pistol and Assrifle mostly.
As a pistol master I never even touched the
pistol because of that wretched noise it
makes.
-More devious stuff for hackers to do.
Or maybe more occasions to do it.
I only got to take control of the bots
once or twice. And only a few spots where
turrets did anything I couldnt do myself.
(Releasing the bot on the monsters on the
floor of the final level was fun.)
-Full screen sniper view would be nice
ala hitman/sof
-Demolition and trapping should be less of
a support skill and more of a viable weapon
skill. I say that because grenades were
scarce.
-Where are the different types of toxins
for my pepper gun, like its description says
(Im sure everyone cares bout this one, hehe)
Ahh...I could go all night.
Just had to get that out.
I feel better now.
