I don't like how mp3s limit the options of mods, and the plugin that plays umx files is flaky and weird.
Ihe best solution is Unreal Media Ripper. UMR extracts mod files (it, s3m) from the umx files, and those are playable with the out-of-the-box Winamp installation. You can get it from (

To quickly convert all the files, open a cmd window in the Music directory, and run

I've tried the Modplug.exe recently from a link maybe from here, don't really recall which thread. I actually prefer the "what u hear" recordings I've made over the extraction. With a little skill the results can be quite good. Would be nice if there was a mix option and extract certain loops from that modplug, but with a little scrolling of the progress knot some 'hidden' stuff can be squeezed out of that as well. Nice for remixes.
