Do you think that Deus Ex should be made into a movie? There probably are many reasons supporting both causes. The game has a well written story clearly crafted by knowledgeable people, which movie goers would like. It has a dark atmosphere, and there is plenty of potential for action. On the other hand, the game is very long for a movie and is pretty darn dialogue intensive. I'm not saying that dialogue is bad, just a lot of it in the movies isn't appreciated these days. So what do you all think?

No, it would be a stupid movie for many reasons.

Wow... some real detailed replies so far. It gives me some great insight into this question.
As for my own response, I'm afraid I must be brief, pausing only meomentarily to add a few warm words into an already heated discussion. :)
I don't see why Deux Ex wouldn't make a decent movie, if it was rewritten in the appropriate movie format.
It could be sort of a cross between James Bond and Cyberpunk. The main thing would be to flesh out some of the relationships a bit more... perhaps even draw out some of the subplots that were only touched upon in the game. And it wouldn't necessarily have to follow the same plot either.
As for whether it would be realistic to turn this game into a movie, I don't know. The most we could hope for is a movie inspired by the game.
Still, I don't have a lot of faith in Hollywood producers.
Not to get too far off topic (or booed out of the forum) but I saw Knight's Tale this weekend and I thought, somebody came up with a cool script with fun characters and a plot that might be overdone (since before Karate Kid probably), but adds enough fun that it's worth making. However, some producer said, "Well, I don't think kids will watch it. Let's add in Queen and Nike and I'll consider it."

With a little creativity, I think Deus Ex could be made into an incredible movie. Good or Bad though I think people would see it.

If they can make tomb raider into a movie they can definitely make Deus Ex into a movie and i think it'd be a damn good one at that.

I dont know......Im not sure it would be a good movie for 1 reason....the love story. nearly EVERY movie today has some sort of loe story and in Deus Ex that would ruin it

What would be the point of a Deus Ex movie? You've played the game so you know what's going to happen. If they decided to make the movie follow JC Denton, then the only real surprises would be which of the little career choices he makes, and which ending is chosen (FOURTH!!! FOURTH!!!). If they didn't follow Denton, then why make it a Deus Ex movie? All it'd be would be a cyberpunk movie with some token nods to Deus Ex.
The whole point of Deus Ex is that it is a plot-based video game. You can't really make a film out of that. Tomb Raider's plot doesn't have the same effect on the actual game as Deus Ex's does, and Tomb Raider's universe isn't as enclosed as Deus Ex's. Deus Ex represented a fair sized step toward making video games into true narrative vehicles, pushing toward the level found in films. If you remove the video game trappings (All the interactivity etc), all you have is a fairly by-the-numbers action film plot, and the entire exercise takes things a huge step backward.
So basically; no. Never make a Deus Ex movie, or I'll break your head.

Alright, then how about a Deus Ex choose your own ending novel!!?!???!??!!! No, I'm not serious.
