Of course it does. Your assessment that D'Astous is an idiot because it doesn't tell you something interesting to _you_ is, of course, only about you.
As for your assessment that D'astous comment as zero communication value, it is only true from your own and very personal perspective. If that comment helps the company to sell more games, then this comment has a lot of value. Not to you, but as I said, you are not the center of the universe.
Nope...You just don't get it, because you're coming from an ego-centric perspective...one which is distorting your view of an objective value assessment.
I will ask you this...
What objective informational value did the statement "Thief 4 will bring more than stealth" give you?

I hope you don't mind if I answer this (only for myself, of course).
For me, it has value as potential foreshadowing of future information. I'm hopeful that there was a reason that D'Astous found it worthwhile to say. If he did have a reason, then it was worthwhile for the very fact that it gives me hope.
Maybe that seems like a pitifully small value, and I wouldn't disagree with that assessment. I'm stranded on a desert island, dehydrated, and I'll stick my tongue out for even a single drop of rain.
Edit: I realized that my answer does not qualify as "objective informational value," but that's not the only kind of value something can have. I think that's the root of the disagreement here.

No problem...and thanks for being respectful...:)

How could there be foreshadowing for anyone?...I don't think you fully understand what "foreshadowing" means. When something is foreshadowed, it relies on a
specific thing that seems unimportant at the time, but then later has meaning...This would not apply to the phrase "Thief 4 will be more than just stealth", because it is far too general and obvious to have any meaning for a future event...for example:
If one were to witness the development of Thief 4 in 100 different alternate universes, each one of those games would be "more than just stealth", even though each one of them would be different...Do you see?
Now on the other hand, if D'Astous was foreshadowing, he could have said something like:
"Thief 4 is looking so good, some people might think we used a little black magic to make it".
At first, one might think he's just saying the game is going to be great and he's excited because of the that...Yet, what most missed at the time was his use of the words "black magic" as a foreshadow. He used them, because he was foreshadowing the nemesis of T4, a corrupt faction that splintered from the Hand Brotherhood...The Necromancers...which of course, employ the use of "black magic".
That would be foreshadowing...Understand?

I understand now...You have an
emotional need to believe something is going to be good, even though that's not necessarily congruent with his statement.

That's true...There's
emotional value, as well...Yet, I recommend that you not let that blind you.

Will you keep impersonating the village idiot for long? You keep trying to prove that the words "bring more than just stealth" are exceptionally bad news, becoming increasingly aggressive with each of your attempts at proving it. You got your point across a few pages ago. No need to repeat it and treat people as stupid and flawed while your claim is objective and logical.
And you have no basis to make such a claim in the first place. Did you verify the source? The original quote is (
http://www.oxm.co.uk/40758/eidos-thief-4-will-bring-more-than-just-stealth/) here, in an Official Xbox Magazine interview of D'Astous at the GDC. The quote is found only in the headline, not even in the corpus, which gives us absolutely no context. Every single games journalism (lol) site ran with that headline because OXM did the same thing, without knowing whether this sentence was contextualized or not, whether the interview was a true interview or just random banter at the Eidos Montreal booth, etc.
With so much unknown, you have no right to draw conclusions from that quote, that's what differenciates science and politics. I dare you to find us the original context of the quote.
The other, longer quote, is contextualized and actually very interesting. We are all expecting EM to bring "new stuff to the table", because that's exactly what LGS would have done. Without innovation, there is no LGS legacy.
