I have the same problem as Cardia, and a similar problem to the one I had back in 2011.
I started again on Expert, using v 1_0_2 of the FM.
The water supply is on (its valve is no longer probable). I have pressed the red button in the generator room near the temple, and flipped the swich above it. That switch is no longer frobbable. Pistons and gears nearby are moving. I have then entered 9624 in the twin controls in the gantry. The wires nearby spark, I hear a door closing, but area 9624 remains shut. So I cannot use the smelter, which I think I need to use to complete a mandatory objective.

Did you open any of the other doors? There are four. The combinations are: 6877, 2813, 9624, & 2813.

I see three codes there rather than four.
I just tried entering 6877 and 2813 at the gantry controls, those two doors are visible from the gantry. The wires spark but those gates do not open. I think I have already accessed those areas but by other means.

Looks like those old mission threads are useless for help (espeecially since the author left the community), but I hope for answer. I cannot get to the vault. Even despite I managed to frob primary water control valve and used bronze gear. Looks like there is something with scripts.
