Glad to hear that you (and others) enjoyed it!
As for the loot...
No, it would have been a pretty cruel move to put gold in the boiler to be sealed completely off. There IS a stack of coins that is accessible through the boiler, but you can also get to it by breaking apart one of the rusted-out Children of Karras and crawling into a space behind the crate it is sitting in. Also, there is some gold in high places in Warehouse Gamma. Try using your rope arrows to do some vertical exploring.

To open the vault, I I turned on the primary water pressure, started the generators, and inserted the main gear, but nothing opens. I suspect I miss something small, but what?

Where did I find Arnold's letter? It states Please use the enclosed First Bank Trust account numbers to access my vault and make a good life of my personal fortune. But I seem to be missing the numbers. Or perhaps this isn't part of the mission? Am I confusing the issue?

1st of all thanks for the help I really love missions like this. 2nd , the door works it was just my confusion
I was entering the code from the book about the smith and frobbing the control on the ground by the vine thinking thats what unlocked the door. Anyway now I can continue.

pressing the little red button that starts up the generators, you must wait for all the lights to come on and then
throw the big on/off switch. You probably left before doing that last step.

Go back up to the control room and throw the big floor lever ?SOMEONE didn't check the latest beta release and notice that the vault had been re-designed and the big floor lever gotten rid of, didn't they? ;)

Just pretend that there is an enclosed bank note. Just holding the letter means that you've got the bank info.
You picked up the letter behind a desk in the assistant foreman's room. It's the one with the big hole in the brick wall and an overturned bookshelf on the floor. I could have included a page with a bunch of numbers, but I figured that no one would be interested in seeing that, so I didn't.

I´m stuck on the water pumps, from what i understand i must activate three water pumps to move aside the vault cog door, but how can i do this if each water pumps shuts down after a while, how to i activate them all at the same time?

Huh?
I don't know what water pumps you are thinking of, because there is only one,
in the waterworks office off of Warehouse Alpha. And it doesn't turn off at any point. The only things that automatically turn off are the bay doors and the alarm system. To get the vault door to open, you must
turn on the primary power and
insert a bronze control gear into the control box in southern Warehouse Beta.

It is not really important where you found it
(actually you got it from some small office with a tumbled bookshelf) and the numbers you will not find either.
But for a second, imagine the numbers would be there - even if the First City Bank & Trust is faaar away.
What options do you do have for the letter (and the numbers) ?
Keep it for yourself and a later visit to the bank maybe?
Or be a good guy and deposit the letter somewhere from where it can make it's way to Anita ?And Anita is not around either. After all, it is a 'letter' and not a simple 'note'.
