@ icemann: what do you mean "linked in to Ultima Online to a fair degree"? Thanks.

latest info is major changes to the demonhunter (has now hatred spender/generator skills like the monk) and ...... a random rune skill modification system is very likely. that is a major bummer. In d1 & d2 you could try to build your dreamclass by getting the right skills and then farming/searching for the right items. In D3 when you socket a rune into a skillslot you will NOT know which rune it is. It will be a random type of rune which is then LOCKED to this slot. So all you can do is replace it by another precious rune (they will be very, very rare it seems) and hope again. All I can guess is that they want to give more power to the auction house where ppl will buy those runes en masse just to get the desired runeeffect. they clearly lost it this time - if that's going to be implemented

Yup, mothra, giving power to the damn auction house is the first thing I thought of too. Man, that is B.S.

Yes. It is funny that people complain about such things yet will still rush out and buy the game on release, there by encouraging this sort of behavior.
Right, and you know this because you use your jedi mind tricks to see those posters "rush out" and buy the game. Plus, you're one to talk considering you talk all the time about how much you dislike DRM.

And just as Origin ran into with Ultima 9, Diablo 3 is being affected by the whole World of Warcraft factor. Hence the auction house
I only partly agree with you here. Item selling for IRL money in Diablo 2 was a significant cottage industry (i.e. d2jsp), but it was all 3rd party. I believe Blizzard wanted to regulate and get profit off of auctions since they likely would've happened with D3 regardless, 1st party support or not.

The beta footage looks nice despite everything :(
(The Salvage Cube is brilliant)

Still not getting it. Not even if it's easily cracked.

Catching up a bit on the game and it's amazing how modern it is. Not only you get both stats and skills automatically on level up, you're free to swap everything around whenever you want, hovewer you want. There is NO permanance to your character whatseover, all your choices are temporary and the character is 100% item-based.
Needless to say, it sucks Yog-Sothoth balls.
