The new area of The Sword is brilliant. Thieves' Guild is confusing, but I always enjoy it; it's extremely well-designed from a stealth-perspective. Song of the Caverns is perhaps the best new level of the three, but Mage Towers still has some great story and challenging thieving in it.
I admit I started with TG, but without the extra missions Thief would just feel incomplete.

THANK YOU.

Wow, those two postings are from before my FIRST internet connection! Talk about ancient!
It's cool to see a thread where one of the developers (I assume that's a developer) is talking about the recent release of Thief Gold, back when the series was alive and well (not to mention Looking Glass).

Thanks for all your replies. So I guess there is no official list of changes for TG, and no easy way to find all the differences. A little disappointing, though I guess which one to install comes down to personal preference.

Worth having Gold, especially for the Blooper Reel and if you want to play fan missions.
It'll be great to finally check out some T1 fan missions, I'm looking forward to it. Is the blooper reel the readable bedroll thing in the secret area of the training mission? I remember seeing it in The Dark Project.

I don't know if anyone's gone to that trouble -- no revision list in the Gold readme, or anything like that. Just endless, meandering dialogues on the pros & cons at good ol' TTLG.
I would of done a search if that's what I was looking for but I was mainly interested in the technical differences. Still interesting to hear the different opinions posted here.

I dug these up from the mists.
Thank you Muzman. They're some excellent threads.
Makes me wonder, if there are LGS devs who are members of TTLG and the fan project for Thief II - Gold is being developed, could it be possible that a former dev is helping to make Thief II - Gold?

As i said play both and decide for your self, thats the best way.
That's a good idea, instead of just using the goldskip.exe I'll play right through again. I need a new set of save files for DP anyway.
I haven't played each new mission through yet, but the Song of the Caverns is very enjoyable, nice mission design and change of atmosphere. Theives Guild is great for stealth but is different once you get deeper into the mission. Mage Towers I haven't played enough yet but also looks very interesting.
Once again, thanks everyone. :thumb:

No, it's a seperate level (not sure if it's accessible in game or if you have to load it in Dromed) which is a version of Lord Bafford's manor with loads of "outtakes" such as burricks which accidentally shoot gas from their rear end.

Lol, not unless they've disguised themselves! If any LGS developers are reading this though, you're quite welcome to lend a Thief 2 Gold hand! :laff: (that is, if they don't get heart palpitations just hearing the word Dromed)

I assume they would be disguised if any devs are interested in lending a hand at all, seeing how the mis files for T2 Gold came from a mystery dev. It would be satisfying to know if a dev was involved some way, though it's quite unlikely.

maybe Brother Renault is secretly Emil Paguliaro... :weird: :laff:
