Everyone has valid points BUT my main thing with the whole plot and ending of TDS was that there was no personal devolpement or even any change in Garrets skills. All his "upgrades" only solved stupid problems like making vines or killing rust mites but served little practicle use in the real world of theivery. Also, Garret never went through any emotional change, he was just the same guy in the beggining and end... He may have found his 'destiny' but hes still generally the same old Garret and this lack of change made the game a little weak.
When you think of other modern games, even WoW, you level... you gain skills, knowledge and it all betters you at whatever your doing - eg killing. But in Garrets case the only knowledge he acquired solved only specific problems which dont serve any ultimate use! Like now he can kill stone creatures... oh boy... And it helps him for a bit, until it ends... then his upgrade is useless again. Garret never becomes faster aswell, or more silent, or even learn to use differnt weapons, magic, or anything. So as i say again, the lack of change in the game had me dissapointed since really it would be cool for Garret to improve.
Dont you all agree?

Garrett was already a master Thief, plus..it's not an RPG...you don't 'level up' or 'gain skills' really. As for personality changes, I think he changed quite a bit from the first game to the last. He has gone from totally rejecting his destiny, to embracing it...complete turn around. Sure, he's still jaded old Garrett, but that's his underlying personality....that's not really going to change.

Don't you think that needs skills?:) Why should he show his emotions? He's a professional...

The main thing with games is to provide entertainment and to achieve revenues for the companies who produce them. Which is why entertaining the consumer is the top priority when creating a game. While TDS was very fun, it could have been better. Since its alreayd placed in a stretched fantasy world they could have gone a bit futhur, to even have maybe Garret possesing a ability to go invisible for three seconds, or something else. My point is, implicating perhaps some RPG factors would have made the game all that better and would have left the player with a self of accomplishment as he had got this character better off with his tribulations...
I agree his personality did change... But i as a player would like to have had more influence on Garrets devolopment as a theif, trapped in a world of magic.
The next theif, if ever, will have to incoproate that to meet the demans of other games where 'leveling up' is key to enjoyment like WoW.

What, like some kind of "invisibility" potion he could drink?
Please. That's ridiculous.

I like DeusEx and I like Thief, but I really don't think mixing them is neccesary. Growing as a Thief player is more about learning what can be done with the various equipment you collect.

Part of the coolness of Thief is the underlying vulnerability of Gazza. He's not much of a fighter. Also there's always the chance of getting spotted even when being stealthy. But the game especially Thief DS is just so dark, you have to put the brightness up alot, especially the XBox version. I think chameleon and possibly night eye would be too much, as it would be unfair, especially chameleon, and night eye would change the look of the game too much, as The City is always in darkness, whereas Oblivion has daytime etc. A sort of life detect ability would be cool though, maybe incorporated into his mechanical eye, or a trinket he finds.

Has GBM replaced the registration process with a big red "Join TTLG" button on the Google front page or something....?

Yes, WoW is great but that IS NOT thief. A stealth game like thief should require
skill to play, not take hours to become really strong just because you leveled up or "dinged" if you prefer.
I prefer doing well in a game based on skill, not based on how long you've been playing it.
